Went to my first race day at GMR with PCMRC today. Got booted out of intermediate for being to fast. Screwed up my start in Spec Supersport, and got my redemption win in Superspot over 21. Great day today!!!

Couple videos for you to check out. Also during these events, the PCMRC offers a program called the taste of racing where you get to ride a demo bike in a non competitive environment, to see what its like, you need to have your own gear though. 1 piece suit, gloves that cover the wrist, boots and helmet.

First place win, great battles! Warm up lap then race starts at 1:35.

What the hell is wrong with some people? Some hot shot on a Ducati rode right up the sidewalk, almost ran over some pedestrians, proceeded to park his bike in front of a restaurant (near Copa on Cambie & King Ed) and went in.

After completing the riding course with 1stGear my gf and I did the 1st of our group rides on their bikes tonight. Was fun, cold, but lots of fun.

It was our 1st 'group ride' with them so I could only take the cbr125, grom, or the rebel. I took the cbr because I liked it the most during the school. It was fine during the ride, absolutely pinned when we went anywhere near a highway lol.

I'd rather have a more upright bike though, something like a KTM duke or maybe FZ07, we'll see.

I do this but probably less dramatically. Beats parking far off in the distance where some idiot (50/50 split between chick or young foreigner student kid) will sit on your bike to take photos. It's a Ducati thing. Kind of annoying. Can't leave them anywhere out of sight. One claim and the things worthless.

When parking at Modern, I always pop up on the sidewalk and park in front of the store, but its literally just slow riding on the sidewalk, no even applying gas.

Even if it's a small track like PMTD, the practice, and the tips you get from fellow riders and Instructors/off season racers is invaluable.

Love the color scheme, my FZ has been a blast to ride over the last 3 years I'm sure you'll enjoy yours. I really like the line of the seat on the 07.

Thanks man!! I was thinking about getting the silver/yellow, but after seeing the matte silver/blue in person I couldn't resist. The frame/spring/etc being blue really sent it over the edge. After being obsessed with cars for my whole like (which will continue), after two days on my own bike, I totally get it, this is awesome.

Special thanks to quasi for the boots!!!

Sweet Bike Man!!
Did you buy it new or used? If new where from and roughly how much? I've been looking for FZ-07 too.

Curious what people are wearing here.

I feel pretty weary once I hit highway speeds. I have a leather jacket, no armour, joe rocket kevlar jeans which don't really feel much, and the boots/gloves.

Wonder if guys here ride with their armour on? or ? a heavier duty gear?

Typically Leather or Textile Jacket, gloves and boots. I assume the risk, I know what will happen to my legs if I go for a slide been there done that still not wearing full gear for my commute or weekend jaunt.

I'm not the guy rolling around in a wife beater and sneakers but I'm not wearing full leathers either somewhere in between.

Adding onto this; do people here usually ride with specific armoured pants, and if so does anyone have any recommendations? Just got a bike and am pretty nervous about getting caught in a low slide or something of that sort. Already picked out a helmet, jacket, gloves, and shoes, but unsure of what to get for pants. Hearing too many horror stories about jeans fucking up legs have me worried lol.

Looking for something that I can wear casually to eat lunch outside or something after getting off my bike, something like this I guess?
https://fortnine.ca/en/agv-sport-bla...d-cotton-pants

Not entirely sure what I should be looking for though, but I read that kevlar offers good protection(?)

What limitless pretty much said - but more precise. Do guys typically wear armour (elbow/knee, back) when riding as well?

I almost feel like I need to be in a low-slide or high slide, to get it past me. haha.

When I cruise, I just wear jeans and my textile jacket. I'm not dragging my knees in corners and such so the need to be fully geared is a bit to much, but again i'm riding a 125 for a daily so the bike is super forgiving and any mistakes I make I have time to recover.

If I were to get anything over 600cc, i'd be fully geared. The bike is heavier, has a higher chance of making mistakes and simply you cant stop as fast as you could on a smaller bike or cage. Now that isnt to say I wouldnt ride with jeans, but that would be mostly for small commutes and city only riding.. Anything HWY is full gear.
