How would a 250 be for mostly highway riding?
I also weigh 195lbs if that makes a difference

What's worked for me is draining the float bowls on the bottom of the carbs. Give that a shot, all you'll need is a small Allen key. You might have to remove a side fairing to reach the carbs, usually more easily accessed from the right side of the bike.

Just search "draining float bowls 09 ninja" and you should find something.

If you are going to a shop, I suggest Imperial like Gwilo mentioned.

Personally, I think it's completely fine. Sure, it's nice to have that extra power on tap from a 600 to be able to accelerate quickly to pass someone, but a 250 should pose no problems. I've ridden a Ninja 250 a ton on the highway with no complaints at any speeds.

Just don't expect the same from a CBR125... gutless thing that is.

Gwilo 04-05-2013 08:15 AM

I tested a cbr250 it had enough power to haul my (at the time 230 lbs plus gear) up the hills in Surrey and keep up with everyone else riding big bikes .

anyone know where i can buy used fairings locally? looking for a head piece for an 09 ninja in red

tough b/c apparently the 09's red is slightly different color than the 08,10-12. maybe better luck just buying a used one and getting it painted

Kayci 04-06-2013 09:18 PM

Should try calling Brad @ the chop shop cycle. He might be able to get it for you, or even have one lying around.

Raid3n 04-06-2013 10:59 PM

that or supersport motorcycle

hey guys, as a seller of a bike, what is the best way to "show" the bike to potential buyers, allowing them as much exposure to the entire bike as possible, but not risk having them steal it or drop it?

- is asking for money in hand un reasonable?
- any suggestions for showing a relatively low priced bike? ($3800)
- looking for advice from those who've sold their bikes before or have bought used and the seller was more than reasonable to accommodate. Thanks!

SoNaRWaVe 04-07-2013 12:40 PM

I have never sold or bought privately before but here's my 2 cents.

- meet at a public place, like a mall or campus. I would never arrange a meet at home just because they may come back and attempt a steal.
- always ask for full cash in hand before test riding for sure if you allow it
- if you are not comfortable with them sitting on the bike, just simply don't allow it. If they do drop and damage the bike, it just further devalues the bike and/or cost you to fix it up before the next showing

Other than that, let them see that beast in all it's glory and good luck with sale!

Anyone recommend a place to buy gear? For a beginner rider. Already have a helmet. Or any tips for buying gear?
