completely normal. you can never compare the same sizes between two different brands. I'm a medium in RS taichi and an xs in dainese for gloves. i have little girly asian hands
as for boots - i'd recommend the alpinestars smx 5 or sidi vertigo. great protection and not a pain in the ass to put on like the top end boots.
ideally you want something that will protect your ankle at the very least in the case of an accident. i recommend staying away from the low rise riding shoes as they will protect your foot but not the ankle, and your foot is no good to you with a destroyed ankle lol
2 hard parts with the parking lot test are u turns and the emergency stop. the hard stop isn't hard per se, but my bike's front forks are real soft and it dives pretty bad, and i lost a point to that.
practice the u turn a lot, particularly just before the test and you should be good to go

I have problems with the tight turn into slalom so my buddy told me to put the idle to 2000rpm and don't touch the throttle at all and use the brakes only (he said im not getting enough speed into the turn and I always bail and my left foot touches the ground)
I guess I have to try that tomorrow
which way are you going into the slalom from the uturn? if you go into it on the right of the cone, you complete one turn without even doing anything. you create more work for your self if you go from the left.
doesn't matter what side you start on, as long as you don't touch any cones and you stop with your rear wheel past the last cone.
When I did the slalom, I didn't use any throttle, and dragged the rear brake instead of the front if I was going too quick..
I found that rear brake helped during slalom, didn't affect the steering.. I didn't take a course, so maybe my advice might make you a horrible rider haha
I believe Teknic is going bankrupt so there should be some good prices on their gear. Most likely online though.
I have a pair of their violator gloves and lightning boots and have been happy with the gloves.
Every brand fits different so you have to try them all on.
As much as I try to support the local shops, they can not compete with online pricing. Most of my gear I buy online now and have saved hundreds of dollars.
Example: Arai corsair helmet was $850 plus tax up here, I paid $550 shipped to my door.
Comes down to personal preference when it comes to the gear.
I purchased all of my first set of gear from local shops.

Carter and some other stores do 900 - 1200 for the Corsair where Revzilla is a lot lot lot cheaper.

ps 2nd clip I forgot to reverse but u get how I bail at the end because I wasn't leaning
any advice would be nice thanks
Damn I'm tempted to buy a pair of alpinestars smx 5 for $150 but my mind is saying no because I budgeted for $100. Someone tell me I should just buy them.

buying it used i assume? 150 isn't a bad price if you ask me. depends how much wear it's been through
I rode my bicycle across the overpass of Lions Gate Bridge today as traffic was completely stopped and police and ambulance services rushed to the scene. RIP.
Ride safe, guys.

If what this member of BCSB heard was true, this just got even more tragic RIP to the rider...

I went by on my bicycle about 30 seconds after the accident. Godspeed to the rider and my prayers to his family and friends.
I was there when they pronounced him deceased (paramedics laid out a yellow tarp by the way). I heard the witnesses talking and will state that only one lane south bound was green and that speeding could not have been a consideration (too much traffic). I heard that he suddenly fell/laid over his bike into oncoming traffic. I feel for his riding mate and hope that he is coping well.

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new pair of boots but I can't decide on which one to get. They'll mainly be used for street riding. These 3 all fall into the range of my budget:
Alpinestars S-MX 5
Dainese Giro-ST
Sidi Fusion
It'll be great if anyone could share their experience with any of these or know of any local shops to get them, I've only been looking on the Bayside site.
heres a quick video icbc skills test practice - YouTube

where you're starting from in that video isn't where you would be going into the slalom on the actual test. i'll try to draw you up something in a bit.

don't know much about the dainese or sidi boots you listed but from what it seems, s-mx 5 is the most popular out of those 3. don't listen to me though, go in the stores and try them on. daytona, bayside and modern have em from what i know.
