Winter storage guys, would you use a plastic shed?

My new place does not have garage space, nor can I ramp the bike into the house.

I do have a secure garden out back.

Given our relatively mild, yet wet winters, do I risk issues come spring time with those fancy home depot sheds?

I know they are not insulated, but have enough ventilation.

Cheers!

anything is better than leaving it out in the street. just throw a tarp over it and put some cardboard or pieces of carpet under the tires and you're good to go. and if you're worried about water seeping in then unhook the battery so you don't have to use a battery tender.

Couple shops around town also offer storage for the winter season, sometimes the price also includes winterizing the bike too. (ie oil, filter change, fuel stabilizer, etc...)

I know Burnaby Kawi does, Maybe Imperial Motorcycle (can't remember for sure) and some other shops that I can't remember right now.

Gwilo 09-11-2013 05:47 PM

EMS & Daytona offer storage.

Gh0stRider 09-11-2013 06:25 PM

ya, imperial does.

SoNaRWaVe 09-11-2013 08:25 PM

modern motorcycle also does it. but their storage seems kind of sketched. if you know where they are located, just go around to the back, and there's a T intersection there at the alley. there are a couple of run down looking garages there and thats where they store the bikes (the one they opened up to get me my bike was packed with bikes). couldn't really see if there was a heat source or not but i don't recall seeing carpet or anything for the wheels there either.

unless i am totally wrong, and thats just where they keep their bikes that are ready to be picked up.

Thanks all

I will look into the fees at the local shops.

The only reason I didn't consider this first is that I currently have 4 motorcycles, and it does not solve the problem in the spring when it is time to ride. Having 4 motorcycles in my parking spot is a bit sketch right now to say the least.

:-(

SoNaRWaVe 09-12-2013 01:14 AM

if i recall, imperial was $50/month for storage and then they charge for winterizing as well. and modern was $1/day. aaron said after a year of storage it turns into $5/day. i forget what modern charges for winterizing.

notjustforshow 09-12-2013 01:19 AM

$1 a day or even $50 / month seems reasonable, just with my bikes it will add up.

I guess I'll have to sell at least 1 to make this work.

Thanks all!

gdoh 09-13-2013 04:19 PM

did you get a good deal because they lost they order?

z3german 09-13-2013 07:07 PM

:fuuuuu:

Stop posting ST pics especially after you said it was 31k 0%....

I wanna buy that shit that I cant afford........

320icar 09-13-2013 08:32 PM

Well no, after they lost mine, they had none left in Canada in any colour or option. So I had no choice to order a new one. The dealer made up for it with some adjustments, but because its a '14 the 0% financing doesn't count. So it ends up more expensive in the long run. BUT I end up with the car optioned how I want in the colour I really want. Meant to be.

And lolz not like I can really afford it either

Hey guys, is it worth spending the extra $ on a Yuasa battery over say something like a Energy Power one? ($100 vs. $70)

I found Edmonds batteries had the best price on the yuasa battery.
Call them and tell them you are from revscene.
I think they might give a discount.
I paid around $90 for it

not as loud as I expected it to be. Running with just the cat is louder than running with the pipe but the pipe gives it a deeper tone. It should get louder though over time as the packing in the muffler wears out.
