The John Norwich Riders CornerIn honour of our fellow moderator: John Norwich R.I.P. September 17th, 2014
Buy, sell, trade bikes and gear, set up bike rallies, meet discussions. #revscenebikes
Take a riding course to learn how to survive the street .
The Ninja 250 is about the best starter bike out there as well as the Honda CBR 250.
Yes, it is a little low on power as stated but if you ride the 250 for a season, then save up some money and take an A.R.T. (Advanced Rider Training) or Track Days on your 250 and get the most out of it. LEARN on the 250 then move up if you want.
It is better to be fast on a slow bike than slow on a fast bike (right Mr. Sunfighter)
Also user preference as well, 250 is a great starter bike but also depends how you ride. In the city or HWY, adventuring, racing, touring, ect. Maybe you might prefer a cruiser. Posted via RS Mobile
Looking to get into riding and have a few questions.
1) roughly how much gear will cost me, I don't want to cheap out as this will save my life.
2)recomendations for any stores in the lower mainland to check out
3) is a 250 ninja a good starter bike, and what are some other alternatives
Thanks Posted via RS Mobile
1) Buy as you can afford. You can buy cheapies like helmets as low as under $100 for full face or they can get close to $1000. Same thing for other protective gear like gloves, boots, jackets, etc. For example, gloves can go from $50 to $X00.
If you have the money, buy the best protection you can get. For some people who don't, just buy what you can and either... add to it over time, or upgrade an item little by little.
2) I've been everywhere but I seem to get the best deals at Modern with Aaron.
3) 250 ninja is a good starter bike but I personally started on a 2007 CBR 125. I out grew that within a month though, but I started with it, not because it was an easy bike but because it was a cheap bike to get started.
Last summer some of them were advertising on CL from $1600 - $2000 for expensive ones. When I was looking for Ninja 250's, they were more or less around the range of 3K.
even with that extra cost. i paid 195 for both tires shipped to PR, the best they could do was 295 or around that i think. i was also getting some other work done to the bike at the same time i had them mount the tires.

I'm not sure if I found the link for these here or elsewhere a while back but I just ordered a set of these. For the price they don't seem to bad, i'll let you know how they feel once I get them.

You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward.
