get gauntlet gloves that cover your jacket. the alpinestars sp1 is pretty good bang for the buck

Agreed ... also, last year I rode with "shorty" boots... the cheap Alpinestars ones... comfortable to walk around in but they wouldn't have done a DAMN thing if I fell off the bike...

I invested in good, full boots for this season. :) you cannot cheap out/take chances on safety.
