2012 Camry Back up Camera

Does anyone know any shops that can install a factory back up camera for 2012 Camry other than the dealership? Needing it to be hooked up to the in car screen, can't seem to find any places that could do it other than the dealer which would cost a bit. Any recommendation would be appreciated!

Hmm... IIRC, the Back up camera was only $300 as an option wasn't it? Anyways; look for some car electronic shops, maybe audio shops can help you there too since they install those DVD players as well.

Unless it requires an animal sacrifice, I would think the our sponsors, like SoundsGood, can easily handle that job.

Soundsgood will probably do it even if it requires an animal sacrifice lol.

I recommend them also

Will they sacrifice an animal of their own, or would I need to provide my own animal for the sacrifice?

Got the SE V6 package the premium package is 3000 more. The SE doesn't come with back up cam. To install it at Toyota Dealer it's 899+tax. A bit steep.

Looks like a simple install: Sony CCD Toyota Camry 2012 Car rear view Camera back up reverse for GPS DTV | eBay

and less than $30 for the camera.

Saw that too, but been reading on the toyota nation forums that most people run into the problem of the wiring because the camera needs 12v and the car only outputs 6v. Don't want to play around with the wiring especially if I dont know what I'm doing. Thanks anyways!

OP probably doesn't want to run over his kids.

Just out of curiosity, why could Soundsgood not do it?

your battery is 12 volt. Get power from there. Any car shop should be able to do it. Send soundsgood the ebay link and ask again.

in theory:

use mini-tap-a-fuse and tap into aux fuse panel for 12v. ground black wire to near by screw.

pull up the side trim pieces and run wire to trunk.

power camera.

make sure to run through existing wire loom to trunk to make sure things are hidden and clean looking.

i'm not really confident with pulling the head unit. but if you could pull it i could help you wire it. that camera on ebay looks pretty decent.

I sent soundgood an email with the link and schematic just waiting to hear back.
They told me with the new cars, there some programming with the onbaord screen they don`t have access to and wouldn`t be able to do unless they saw the instructions first.

If you google 2012 camry aftermarket camera there is a 10+ page thread on this on a very large toyota community forum.

Browse through there and I'm sure you'll find what you need.

The camera on ebay assumes you have an RCA input in your headunit, if it doesn't then you will need to replace it. It is an aftermarket camera not an OE one.
