| T1i + 430ex = Wireless flash?
Hey guys,
I'm wanting to buy a 430 ex ii speedlite and I'm wondering how to make wireless flash work with my t1i? I've heard that I might need to buy an additional transmitter which sounds pretty expensive. Does anyone have any input on other solutions?
Cheers,
Alex

You'll definitely need a transmitter, or another flash to act as the master. If you're looking for super inexpensive, grab a 24ft Zebra cord (defeats the purpose of wireless, though).
+1 for Pocket Wizard if you've got the money but if you're not looking to spend the dough, you can always go for the cheaper ebay triggers to get things done. Take a look at Cactus V5s, Phottix Strattos, or the Yongnuo RF-603s.
The bad part about the cheaper triggers is that you can't actually control the flash settings from the back of the camera (zero high-speed sync and no E-TTL). It's manual only.

I thought that they had infrared transmitters on them too? Or am I wrong?

They definitely do, but that's just for triggering the camera. The T1i has no wireless function to trigger a remote flash.
I think only with the 320EX and 270EX II, you're able to wirelessly shoot without any triggers.

Whats the most inexpensive wireless solution I can buy locally? Preferably this weekend. I'm fine with setting up the flash manually since I think that's what I'll mostly be using it for.

The only thing is they come from HK and will take you a while. If you want to play around with a set, I can lend you mine for the weekend.
I think you'll end up paying a lot more locally... but I could be wrong.
PM me if you're interested.

for china triggers, everyone should try the new yn-622c. @ $100 a set, and the ability to control groups/power from your camera i think it's a steal. gonna order it after a few more reviews pop up. so far all positive. Yongnuo YN-622C Controller Trigger - Page 8 - Canon Digital Photography Forums
