Yes! JuJu plays for the Pats now. -3 year contract for 33 million.

https://www.nfl.com/news/patriots-si...3-million-deal

SkinnyPupp 03-15-2023 02:57 PM

Was hoping the Ravens would get Juju but obviously they can't sign anyone right now :fuckthatshit:

whitev70r 03-15-2023 03:07 PM

No surprise, Aaron Rodgers to the Jets ...just like Favre.

Haha

SkinnyPupp 03-15-2023 03:15 PM

There's no way that's not going to be a total gong show, right?

whitev70r 03-15-2023 04:53 PM

Kinda surprised by this .. Zeke released from Cowboys!

whitev70r 03-15-2023 09:39 PM

Baker Mayfield to Tampa Bay BUCS ... there's your TB12 replacement :lol

whitev70r 03-16-2023 08:51 AM

So apparently, Rodgers to NY Jets waiting for Packers to get it done. Looks like they want a big haul for him but Packers GM was earlier quoted as saying that they want to move on from AR12. Don't know who has the higher leverage here, the Packers or the Jets? Honestly, there are no other suitors for Rodgers. If NY says, 'take a hike', GB would be left holding 'the bag'.

Packers wanting 2 1st rounds for him ... in that case, if I was Jets, I'd make a play for Lamar Jackson, more dynamic, younger, etc.

Yeah, Packers have no leverage at all. Rodgers has the highest salary in the league by a lot, I think more than 20% higher than the next highest paid player in the league. He's at the end of his career, yes he's still a good QB but not worth losing a bunch of 1st round picks if you're going to do that you go the Lamar route, at least he's a lot younger.

If I'm the Jets I'm demanding picks to take his contract.

whitev70r 03-27-2023 08:10 AM

haha ... you came here to post before the haters shit on your fan !!!

Bye bye Lamar ...

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...d-trade-ravens
Lamar Jackson said Monday that he has requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens as the team "has not been interested in meeting my value" in contract talks.
Good luck, now he put the Ravens in a bind ... like Rodgers did to GB.

So Skinny where do you think he ends up ... makes for more drama for NY Jets ... now they have a choice, it would be hilarious to see GB get stuck with the bag of balls with Rodgers.

SkinnyPupp 03-27-2023 08:19 AM

I dunno, it feels like he'll play for the Ravens. Nothing is set in stone.

I just don't see many teams being as bad as the Browns to the point where they offer such a desperate contract. Lamar seems to think so... The Jets have been bad forever, but they seem good now. It has to be an absolute dirt shit team with a shit GM and shit owner. That's pretty much just the Browns, and they already got their guy. Colts owner is such a nutjob that I can see them doing it maybe... Like on a whim lol.

No judgement on Lamar from me, I will always be a fan.. Do I wish he had an agent and did things like most others? Sure, but that's not who he is. Wish him the best no matter what. Players should take these billionaire owners for every penny they can. But most owners are savvy enough not to go along with it.

Other fans are losing their damn minds.

whitev70r 03-27-2023 08:23 AM

I mean honestly, doesn't a team just have to pony up a bit better than Ravens but not go DeShaun Watson cray cray cuckoo? What if a team offered him slightly more guaranteed money than Baltimore but more actual higher contract dollar value if he stays healthy and plays the whole season, give him incentive if he wins the SB?

One guy shitting his pants is AR12 now ... given the 2 options, who wouldn't prefer Lamar?

SkinnyPupp 03-27-2023 08:39 AM

Baltimore was offering him the second highest guarantee ever $175 million injury guarantee/$133m full.. That is well below Watson's full $230m full, but above Kyler Murray ($165 injury, $105m full)

And he wouldn't take that which probably means he wants absolutely full guarantee like Watson

So a team will have to pay him probably Watson money, or close to it, AND trade for him or make an offer the Ravens can't match, which will be a couple first round picks

I think Rodgers is as good as gone now, but the Packers are in no hurry to accept the Jets' offer. They can wait until after the draft and let them sweat it out lol

whitev70r 03-27-2023 09:03 AM

But now, any other team has to offer up picks for the trade on top of that kind of stupid money! If Lamar doesn't move on his demand for fully guarantee, I think Lamar's ego has put himself in a bit of a bind. What if Lamar looked at Mahomes as a bar instead of the shitty contract for Watson .. and put himself a little lower than Mahomes as an act of rightful humility. I mean, how many SB has Jackson taken the Ravens to ?!

You're right in that he needed an agent to talk some sense into him.

Mahomes' Contract -

GGnoRE 03-27-2023 10:40 AM

I don't get Lamar with this whole no-agent thing... Its crazy bizarre on many fronts:

1. Deshaun absolutely fleeced Cleveland to the point where Cleveland was allegedly betting against themselves. How did Deshaun pull that off insane contract? By having one of the best agents in the game to negotiate professionally on his behalf??

2. Hiring an agent costs like 3% commission, at this point Lamar probably cost himself more than the 3% of whatever contract he wanted this year alone by ending up in non-exclusive tag

3. Random affiliates of Lamar that aren't certified by the NFLPA are contacting NFL teams on Lamar's behalf and his mom is his official agent. That just screams unprofessional to the whole league for someone demanding a +200m contract?

4. 133M over 3 years (44m/year) that Lamar said was offered by Ravens is honestly not bad in terms of avg annual earnings. If he is confident that he can stay healthy and deliver promising results over those 3 years (not even a SB necessarily), he'll get another huge bite at the apple after 3 years which will accumulate as more than the 200m he wants guaranteed now. Is he forecasting his own decline by insisting that he wants 200m guaranteed now?

Lamar is a beast if he stays healthy and I think he would've gotten close to what he wanted had he just hired a top agent like every other star players. I mean look at Dak and what his agent pulled off the cowboys with such a mediocre performance. Now it's a lose-lose situation for both himself and the Ravens, the worst type of outcome in any negotiation situation.

whitev70r 03-27-2023 11:41 AM

Just dawned on me in terms of the timeline ... LJ informed Baltimore on Mar 2nd that he wanted to be traded. On Mar 7th, Baltimore put him on non-exclusive franchise tag. So the Ravens knew his intention before. This is a big game of chicken.

And how can Lamar be traded if Baltimore hasn't signed him to any contract? A sign and trade with new team?

SkinnyPupp 03-27-2023 05:38 PM

I'm pretty sure officially asking for a trade part of his negotiation with the team (edit: confirmed). I am never going to try predicting what he's thinking though. He doesn't think like most QBs, and isn't getting the standard advice they'd get. So you never know, just have to go along with it. The team knows this, they've said as much. Whether he stays or signs with another team, I'm sure there's no hard feelings.

It sounds like nobody is willing to meet his demands though, so for now, he's a Raven. If it comes down to it, I feel like he'll play on the tag and go for the win. Because if he hits that, he probably WILL get what he's asking for. Maybe someone will get desperate enough to go for it before that.

And yes, they can trade him.. his rights are assigned to the team already whether he signs their offer or not, as long as they franchise tag him. "Sign and trade" is how most tagged players that move, are moved. I think the Offer Sheet method has only happened once ever, because the team that wants him has to make cap space for him without knowing if the offer will be matched. If they move a bunch of players and their offer gets matched, they get fucked.

quasi 03-28-2023 07:36 AM

So far his opinion on what he's worth isn't in line with what the market thinks. It's a shitty situation for both teams, as you've all mentioned the no agent thing has really screwed him over he could have probably made way more money with an agent because they would have likely got him more endorsements as well.

If I don't know shit about cars I'm not going to not hire a mechanic because he's going to charge me, same for plumbing issues at my house and a million other things.

You can't be an expert at everything, of all the guys to negotiate his own contract he's honestly probably one of the worst choices to do it. If Ryan Fitzpatrick did it that might make sense, smart AF, went to Harvard could probably figure it out. Lamar Jackson, hell of an athlete and a better QB than Fitzpatrick but he has one of the lowest Wonderlic scores of any starting QB to ever play in the NFL, he's not known for his brain.

The Vikings are considered one of the top landing spots if he does get moved, as a Vikings fan I fucking hope not at that price.

SkinnyPupp 03-28-2023 09:26 PM

Lamar denying he'll sit out, and denying that he sat out last year when he had the PCL injury (that narrative really annoyed me). He's repeating a lot of what I've been saying all along, so nothing has really changed. He's just talking more now.

As a Pats fan, this news report is quite interesting.

Coach Belichick is still angry at Mac for trying to get help outside of the team to fix the offense haha.

The coach is trying to trade Mac during the offseason.

I saw that report, but I also so people refuting it:

I think this is BB's last chance with the team if they don't make the playoffs.. Kraft really hinted at that

whitev70r 04-07-2023 01:57 PM

NYJets finally sign Green Bay QB ...too bad it's not Rodgers :lol

The Official *NFL* thread

OBJ signs 1 year deal worth 18 million with the Ravens.

SkinnyPupp, your thoughts on OBJ joining Baltimore?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SkinnyPupp 04-09-2023 04:29 PM

I am cautiously optimistic. He isn't what he used to be, but he absolutely was a big part of the Rams being able to win the Super Bowl. And that was with Matthew Stafford, who I think is pretty basic.

Lamar, we got you a receiver finally! Sign here! LUL

Deal is $15m base, can be up to $18m with incentives. That's pretty good in a post Christian Kirk era. Even Allen Lazard got like $11m base.

Bateman/Andrews as top targets
Beckham
Agholor
Duvernay

Pretty decent! Let's see if teams keep stacking the box against the run...

I'm surprised OBJ got $18 given his injury history.

He'll sell tickets though, so I suppose it's worth it.
