Oh my !! First one. Who was it that said that Belichick's assistant coaches don't do well as HC?
Mark Davis said in a statement:
“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”
Maybe McDaniels is just a great OC ... that's his ceiling.
Or maybe he was a mediocre OC for a great (I mean literally the greatest ever) quarterback?
The thing is he already proved he couldn't be a head coach, with Denver. But they went and hired him anyway... It would be like someone hiring Nathaniel Hackett next season. Some guys just aren't cut out for that job
Raiders fire both the coach and GM, paying 80 million between McDaniels and Gruden to not coach. At least Davis is saving a copious amount of money cutting his own hair so this is probably a wash.
Gets better, looked at the interm coach's come-up.
2010 retires from NFL
2014-2017, coaches highschool and coached a team that hadn't missed the playoffs in 30+ years to missing 3 of his 4 years there.
2017, goes to Arizona to be the line backers coach for the Wildcats, leaves in 2020 after a recruiting scandal.
2022, becomes the line backer coach for the Raiders and now promoted to the interm Head Coach.
What could go wrong?

You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. 1. Josh Allen be taunting, you are not that good bro. Didn't age well at all, what did scoreboard read at 00:00? Bengals showing their stripes after slow start to season.
2. Dallas put up a pretty good fight, made it exciting till the end but ...Philly is Philly.
3. Maybe a new start for the Vegas Raiders after house cleaning?
4. C.J. Stroud ... legit young star. Bright future if he can be consistent. Quite the barn burner of a game. Carolina Panthers wishing they picked Stroud.
5. Ravens rising as the cream of the crop. Defeated Seattle, another consistent middle-of-the-pack team, handedly. Rest of AFC North are just trying to keep up but the 3 other teams are all finding ways to win.
I don't mind Allen's taunt, as it was 7-7 at that time and looked like it might be a shootout. Bengals D locked in though!
Reminds me of Anquan Boldin in the Ravens/Patriots AFC Championship game in 2012, where he just played THROUGH two defenders for a touchdown, pointed and laughed as they laid on the ground... That was such a cool moment. One of my all time favourites
Allen must be hurt or something, or being coached not to run. If he can't run, he's not the same QB. Maybe he's not in as bad shape as Burrow was, but it has to be something other than "he's cooked"... right?
Joe Burrow is now 5-1 against Mahomes and Allen, two of the top QBs in the league. (He's 1-3 vs Lamar)
Dolphins just can't beat good teams. 0-3 against teams over .500. But they beat the shit out of the bad teams, that's for sure, and everyone got hyped for it. Ravens are the inverse lol.. 3-0 against teams over .500 at the time of matchup, outscoring them 103-12
Tua seems to be a one read QB, and relies on hitting Tyreek and Waddle with perfect timing and anticipation, especially on in-routes. But when they get jammed up at the line, the timing isn't there, and he can't do anything about it. That seems to be the 'solution' to beating them, and they'll have to figure out another way.
Dobbs' heroism was amazing to see, and he was humble and charming after the win. I know he won't be their starter next season, or maybe not even next week, but that was a cool moment.
Stroud is absolutely the next superstar, but I don't think Bryce Young is a flop. Not even close. He has a shit O line and garbage on the perimeter. Well Thielen can catch contested passes, but he sucks as a route runner. Not a #1 guy, no way
Raiders get that "new coach first win" just like so many teams seem to. Giants are completely lost, with Danny Dimes out for the season, and Tyrod on IR. Tommy LaRusso is not the answer... Will we get the return of Carson Wentz?
Chargers/Jets today should be fun. Jets defense is fun as hell to watch - my second favourite defense in the league
1. Hou vs. Cin - oh my, exciting game back and forth. This Stroud kid is unreal, cool as ice, just when Cincy was starting to roll. Houston pulls out a win vs. the veteran team Cincy and Burrows. Impressive. Houston has a bright future. They might even make it into this year's playoffs if they keep playing like this.
2. Lots of exciting finishes this week. Detroit > LA Chargers, barn burner of a finish. Detroit is just fun to watch. Seattle vs. Washington was another, good on the Seahawks for getting that W.
3. Kevin O'Connell of the Vikings has got to be contender for coach of the year. Finding ways to get that W.
4. SF finding their form after 3 weeks of brain fart over Jacksonville (not a bad team).
5. Steelers getting really UGLY W's. Staying in the mix of AFC North, hands down, the worst 6-3 team in the league. Jordan Love not quite ready to take over, is he?
6. Just trade Mac Jones now ... put him out of his misery.
Finally, .. someone who usually posts here is not going to be very happy. Leading 17-3, 24-9 at various pts of the game and 31-17 into the 4th Q ... only to lose 34-31 to DeShaun Watson. Should have put this one away and locking things down with the D.
Bungles couldn't do anything for half a game, but got back into the Texans game, but Stroud is a phenom and got them to FG range for the walk off
Dobbs continues to be one of the best stories in the league rn. Vikings on a 5 game win streak! How about a Ravens/Vikings Super Bowl?
Steelers ARE the worst 6-3 team, it's not even a debate. They've been outgained in every game they've played, run fewer plays in every game they've played, and have a -26 point differential on the season. They stink, but wins are wins
Lions/Chargers was an insane back and forth game, and basically came down to who had the last possession. Lions did, so they won.
Seahawks eke out another win over a feisty Commandos team.. Looked ugly at times, but still fun
Zach Wilson had flashes of what a #2 overall draft pick might play like. But more often than not, he was Zach Wilson. Fun game considering there were only like 2 touchdowns
Ravens dominated the first half, Browns dominated the second half. Leagues' top two defenses ended up giving up almost 30 points each (and each scored a pick 6!). Watson played his best game since coming back in the second half - dude is elusive. He and Njoku just exhausted the defense. Ravens O line was pretty awful, then Stanley went down (again) and they just couldn't do much. I don't know why they didn't have Ricard out there helping, and why not run Keaton Mitchell more? 10 YPC, vs Gus with just over 2 YPC. Maybe they're worried about his durability. Also on my radar: Justin Tucker is lowkey having an awful season. Not just "un-Tucker-like" but really bad. 1-6 beyond 50 yards? That includes some blocked kicks, and weather, but that's his stat. They need to figure that shit out.
AFCN games are always like this, so there's no real reason to be unhappy. A split against all 3 opponents is the best result you could hope for, no matter how good or bad each team is. Also the Browns have been a good QB away from being a top contender in the AFC, and for this game at least, they had that for a half. Myles Garrett is elite elite. MVP level player (but will never win MVP unfortunately)
Still 2 games left before the bye, and they were looking really beat up and tired today. Bungles on Thursday, then Chargers who can really score. Hoping they go at least 1-1 for these games
4 of the next 6 games are in primetime, so at least I don't have to stay up until 5am as much

Buffalo did not deserve to win this game despite their improved play in the second half against the Broncos.
Too many turnovers. Allen coughs up the ball during a handoff for a run play.
One of the WRs with the butter fingers as the ball goes past their gloves and into a Broncos player for another turnover.
Russ cooked the Bills. Wilson played well.
24/29 for passing and 2 TDs.
Terrible penalties by the Bills. Pass interference call and not getting their players ready after the Broncos quickly put their players on the field for the winning field goal.

Yeah turnovers were brutal.. Allen had a couple picks but the first one wasn't his fault, and bad drops too. James Cook stripped of two fumbles, but one bounced right back into his hands! LOL
Russ had a great couple plays.. That TD to Sutton, and the hot pass for the second TD were amazing. But for most of the game he played scared and they played conservatively (which I guess is the right call if the other team is fucking up so much). Any other day, the Broncos get cooked.
How about Bills losing on penalties? DPI on an underthrown floater, got to hate those. Then Lutz misses the FG but it's called off because 12 MEN ON DEFENSE... Wow
