More on the officiating from the Chiefs game. I didn't say much because it was against the Ravens and didn't want to come across as a salty fan (I swear I am not mad about the actual game play or loss in that game), but MANY Chiefs games are like this, including the Super Bowl win over the Eagles.

^ Guy still pulls down 7 for 130 yards in a winning effort. one 80 yd reception for a TD.

Trying to stay spoiler free for the afternoon games but I saw the Patriots beat the Bungles! Their O/U is 4.5 games, so this is a big one for them to win. Go Pats!

Currently watching Deshaun Watson go 7/14 getting booed off the field in Cleveland after another failed 3rd down attempt (0 for 6 in the half). Aubrey would have tied Justin Tucker's 66 yard FG record but they snapped the ball too late KEKW

Seahawks look like shit, but always remember that September is basically extended preseason for most teams, especially when they bring in new coaching staff

SkinnyPupp 09-08-2024 02:21 PM

Loving the Cowboys scoring on a punt return so I can continue watching the Deshaun Watson meltdown KEKW

Big defensive plays from the Pats’ D!

Kyle Dugger punches the ball out of the Bengals receiver to force a turnover. Huge play.

Prescott got paid ... 4 yrs at $240. To say that QB contracts have gotten insane would be an understatement.

NE over Cincy - Combined yardage for the 2 starting QB's was 285 yds, preseason like indeed.

Chi over Tennesee Titans - Chicago Rookie QB Williams gets less than 100 yrds but still eek out the W because all TD's were by special teams or defence. Going to be a bumpy 1st year but I still like the rookie. Eventually, things will click for him.

Pitts 18 over ATL 10 - Pitts wins by getting 6 FGs ... Steelers fans can go hibernate and wake up next year, Sept 2025 and probably won't miss much.

SEA > DEN ... it's a toss up between Sean Payton or Aaron Rodgers that gives me the greatest satisfaction when they fail. So that's one. Please SF, make it a double on Mon night.

TB> WSH - Baker Mayfield might have had the best week 1 for a QB.

DAL > CLE - good.

LA vs. DET - the QB switcheroo teams. Rooting for Motown again, they deserve some success ... in anything.

SkinnyPupp 09-08-2024 07:08 PM

This game is fucking insane

Rams line is decimated and Nacua is out, but somehow they got back into it. Stafford just made one of the best passes we'll see all year

SkinnyPupp 09-08-2024 07:40 PM

Gutsy play by the Rams, some incredible coaching by McVay overall but a few really bad decisions by him cost them in the end

whitev70r 09-08-2024 07:51 PM

Like how Detroit showed its grit in OT, pounding the ball on the ground to get it into the End Zone. I don't like how both teams don't get to touch the ball if the one who won coin toss gets a TD but it is what it is.

I just like Dan Campbell the coach of the Lions ...

Because he didn't trust Goff not to botch the OT drive? :considered:

I brought that up when Lamar got his contract and people were freaking out. QB contracts will only go up, so you sign the guy you want, as soon as you can. Now he's the 8th highest paid QB.

Hurts and Burrow are the only ones in the top 10 that have played in the Super Bowl in the last 10 years, both losses

Mahomes #12 btw KEKW

SkinnyPupp 09-09-2024 03:49 PM

No more Deshaun Watson jokes for a while, as he's being sued again, and the details are disgusting.

And for those who didn't want to call him a rapist before since there was no penetration (that we know of), well if this story is true, you can't deny he's an actual rapist. And it makes the other 20 allegations even scarier, since we don't know the specific details of each of them.

whitev70r 09-09-2024 05:25 PM

^ Cleveland Browns hoping that this allegations hold water so that they can get out of that albatross of a stupid contract ... is the guaranteed money part of the contract upheld even though player is found guilty of a crime?

Apparently there's a paragraph in the contract that makes it possible for them to get out of some of the contract, yes

There is the question of whether they knew about this incident before and all that.. This won't conclude any time soon. Maybe they take him off the field in the meantime or put him on the exempt list

whitev70r 09-10-2024 05:49 AM

49'ers look pretty damn good, even without CMC ... backup Jordan Mason punched out 147 yrds. What week of the season do you think Purdy becomes the highest paid QB with a new contract?

SkinnyPupp 09-10-2024 12:54 PM

49ers blocking/scheming was scary. Jets didn't look bad at all, and Rodgers still has an arm, but they couldn't do a thing to touch their run game. Trent Williams didn't need a single minute of training camp, and allowed 0 pressures.

Purdy is an interesting one, because he's adequate for this offense but would there be much demand from other teams? I doubt he gets "the" top contract over Dak. Top 10 for sure though.

SkinnyPupp 09-12-2024 03:37 PM

Darnold looked really good! Only bad throws were when his O-line was losing

SkinnyPupp 09-12-2024 06:11 PM

Tua KEKW

Edit: Fuck no.. Not funny anymore. Dude tried to initiate contact (on Demar Hamlin of all people) and didn't have leverage and got trucked. Bad concussion, I don't know how many it's been now.

sonick 09-12-2024 10:27 PM

I caveat to say I follow little about football, and although hit on Tua was scary but for real he lowered his head and used it to absorb the hit? Like what else could the defender have done? He was standing there to block when Tua ran into him head first.

If that's your default response to a block and you have a pattern of concussions it's almost like, what's the cause and effect here?

Sad to think how many he had before this coming up the ranks yet was ignored by coaches etc.

It looked like he wanted to truck the guy to fire his team up, and just forgot how to take a tackle. He gritted his teeth and sent himself head first into the guy's chest. Normally he'd slide in that moment, since he already got the first down.

whitev70r 09-13-2024 07:11 AM

^ yah, not the brightest move for someone with a history of concussion. Hope he's OK but guy's career in the NFL won't be long if he continues to play this way ... nor his quality of life be good when he retires (or forced to retire early).

mikemhg 09-13-2024 10:21 AM

That's wild that he ran into Hamlin's chest of all players, that was insane.

NFL would've had a meltdown if both of those guys were down on the field again.

Hard to say, I hope he gets paid huge for playing on such a shitty deal the last 2 years. Will he take-over top paid QB? It's tough because I agree he's not a top 5 QB in the league but it will come down to how well SF does this year and how far they go. If they win a Superbowl it's pretty hard to argue he doesn't deserve the top but that would be the end of that uptrend the Niners have been on over the last few years.

They're reporting that Chase turned down Jefferson money, if that's true that's more insane to me because only in his mind is he better than JJ.

SkinnyPupp 09-13-2024 01:31 PM

Fact is, there's basically no other choice for them. Pay him, or draft a rookie. I don't know whose contract is ending next year other than Purdy.. Dak would have been, but he was signed just before game 1!

Russell Wilson is on a 1 year LUL

They could wait and see if Darnold signs an extension or not.

This is the main reason contracts have gotten so big for unproven QBs like Love, Tua, or Lawrence. There's just no other option.. If the guy is good enough to be your starter, you HAVE to pay him top dollar. And Purdy was a couple plays away from winning it all, so he has to be seen as worth it, for that system at least. He is PERFECT for the Shanahan system.
