Lamar done 5 minutes into the 4th quarter, with more TDs than incompletes (but a fumble loss on the first drive). Funny thing is he's playing better than both his MVP years, but since they probably won't have big prime time games in the final weeks, he won't get as many votes as QBs involved in bigger games (like Lions vs Bills in a bit)

What a game between the Bills and Lion.
Highest scoring game in the season so far.

48-42 win for the Bills.

Anything worth mentioning this weekend? I've reached the point where the regular season feels too long, still have 2 more regular season game! AND commissioner is considering adding one more regular season game ... please no. Let's just get the playoff started already! Players are going to get hurt, it will directly affect the quality of the playoffs if players are pushed even more.

1. Yes, Lamar had an MVP day but c'mon, it's against the Giants. He should have sat down after a half vs. this team. Let's see him do this in the playoffs ... then we can thump our chest.
2. Jets and Cowboys are winning ... actually now is the time to make games look close and lose, you'll get a better draft next year. That's what you're playing for.
3. Patrick Mahomes, high ankle sprain ... finally, the football gods wake up.
4. Buffalo vs. Lions, what they label as SB preview. Good friggin game, score looks closer than it really was but maybe ... maybe this is Buffalo's year?
5. Broncos 9-5 and Steelers 10-4. Looks like the Russell Wilson move was mutually beneficial. Steelers clinch even losing badly in the Pennsylvania Bowl. For some reason, Philly has the Steelers number! Something like 10 straight wins over Steelers.
6. MNF ... another meaningless game.

I don't think the season is too long.. It might feel that way now, but it won't be long after the Super Bowl where I'll be wishing I was watching football. I got up at 2 again for the Giants game, and then watched the Steelers game and then Packers vs Seahawks

Lamar had a ridiculous day against the Giants, and yes it's the Giants, but if they had a tight game against them we'd all be saying "You barely beat the Giants!". The Giants have the #7 ranked passing defense in the league, no QB has scored more than 2 TDs on them, no team has scored over 30 on them. Plus if you look at the actual TD throws, some of them were fucking insane lol. Yes it's the Giants, and this game doesn't go on my consideration of good/bad teams to set performance expectations, but it was a game for Lamar that few QBs have ever replicated (Brady, Manning, and Big Ben have done it 3 times each, Lamar 5 times now). Not sure why anyone would want to take that away, but... well actually I kind of am pretty sure I know why.. Probably the same reason that "let's see how he does in the playoffs" only ever refers to one player

My concern is that the defense still gets a million dumb penalties. Both Giants scores were gifts by bad defensive penalties. One drive had 48 yards of penalties. It really should have been a shut out. Also should have been 6 TDs but they had a good ball strip on the 10 yard line on the third play of the game.

Steelers are about to have their only tough games of the season, and they looked pretty much completely inept in the first one. Let's see how the rest goes. Most of the luck has gone their way, and they may be playing the Chiefs led by Carson Wentz. We've seen the Mahomes high ankle sprain thing before though... I was worried about the Eagles going into this game, based on the really strange play of Jalen Hurts vs the Panthers, but he played totally normal here.

Buffalo with their fourth tough game of the season, and this time they beat a decimated Lions defense (#24 ranked passing defense btw, and that was before all the injuries in this game) pretty soundly. More importantly, they were able to keep the incredibly well designed Lions offense in check (besides 1 or 2 garbage time scores).

Packers are the team to watch in the NFC for me. Them and the Rams. I hope they don't end up playing each other in the playoffs early, because both teams can make some noise and I am predicting some upsets.

Boring double header. That has to be it for Kirko as a starter.. They'd be insane to put him out there again.

They thought ahead, thinking this could happen. Well, it's happening! Time to bail

That was an expensive mistake.

Kinda like Denver with Russell Wilson. With those terms, no one is going to trade for Cousins. He'll get waived, take his pot of gold, and some team give him a 1 yr vet minimum to see what happens.

Some interesting stats somewhat related to my rant the other day

Compare the point differential against good teams to the point differential against bad teams. It gives you an idea of who the overhyped teams are compared to underhyped.

None of this means anything of course, it just addresses the hype some teams/QBs get and maybe can help set expectations if you're betting.

Giants, Browns, Titoons, Raiders, Saints, (maybe Jets) all need a QB. There's hardly any top prospects in the draft this year, so free agents who would normally be signed as a backup may be able to bait a big signing (Darnold) or a trade (Cousins). Justin Fields was denied his 5th year option so will be a free agent as well, so he's another backup who may get a starter job.

Injury updates for starting QBs:

Mahomey is playing in the game against the Texans. -day to day with a high ankle sprain.
Chiefs offensive line better give great pass protection for Mahomes. Texans defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. made a promise to Kansas City: "We coming".

Seahawks expect Geno Smith to play against the Vikings this Sunday. Smith said that his knee feels better.

Chiefs have some tough games to play against the Texans and Steelers coming up. They know if they tie the Bills in their regular season record, the tie breaker goes to Buffalo for the no. 1 playoff seed. Buffalo beat them during the season.

Helluva TNF game going on right now between Broncos and Chargers !!!

OK, I kinda don't like Sean Payton but hard to not like the Broncos ... they play hard, defence is ferocious, attack attack attack. Offense not bad. Both teams have some solid plays offensively and defensively. But glad Chargers won and made AFC West a bit more interesting. They could have 3 out of 4 teams in playoffs.

Good game !!

Broncos vs Chargers was a great game! First half, neither team really had any defense, but eventually the Chargers D locked down and stopped them at 24

Bo Nix had a rough start to the season, then a good, well managed middle, but he's settling into what would have been expected as a good rookie season, not the outstanding one he was looking like for a bit there. He just can't be trusted to throw it deep anymore. His average depth was 3.3 yards!

Bungles wanted Chargers to win, because there is theoretically a better chance of the Broncos losing out than the Chargers (they need either one to lose out). Also they play the Broncos themselves, which allows them to be the ones to help them lose out.

Chargers play Patriots and Raiders next
Broncos play Bungles and then the Chiefs

Once again I couldn't sleep the night before a 5:30am game, so I just got up at 2 to watch the first one, Texans vs Chiefs

First I have to say that watching CJ play is absolutely a joy. I watch a lot of QB film (due to that patreon I am on) and CJ has the most perfect footwork and base most of the time. Just perfectly lined up, with great timing, great anticipation. Where he gets in trouble is when they get pressure on him.. Sometimes he can extend and create and throw great passes on the run, other times not so much (like that really bad jump pass). I don't shit on his 2 INTs so much, as they were basically arm punts on 3rd down.

Mahomes is kind of the opposite this season, tossing up lame ducks Tebow style all over the field, rarely targeting anything over 10 yards down, missing receivers left and right. But it doesn't matter because it's Mahomes, and it's the Chiefs. He throws fast, and people get open enough to dink and dunk down the field to rely on their good defense. If they don't convert on third down, the opponent usually fucks up and gets a penalty, sometimes a very soft one. It's inevitable. If the opponents get an INT or fumble recovery, there's going to be a penalty negating the play.

That Tank Dell injury reminded me of Nick Chubb.. Devastating for his team, and tough to watch their reactions to it. I hope he can come back and have a good career.

And then we have the Ravens vs Steelers...

Well I'll just say it was the usual Steelers game or AFC North shenanigans, with sloppy play by both teams at times. Ravens put it on the ground 4 times, but recovered all 4. In the past 5 Steelers games, those have gone the other way 100% of the time, allowing the Steelers to steal shitty wins with just good enough play.

Not this time...

This time, despite the mistakes, Henry walked all over their (really good) run D, and the passing offense picked apart their depleted secondary for a definitive win, doubling their score.

Russ made some unbelievably great plays, but had 2 mistakes with the fumble after getting smoked going for the TD instead of sliding, and the awful pick 6 right after his team got an INT. Usually those costly errors in these games have been Ravens errors, but not this time.

Super exciting, entertaining game. My heart was beating out of my chest!

The Justice Hill concussion was rough to watch as well, with him rag-dolling after landing on his head. Hopefully he gets good for the playoffs - his is a tremendous third down back that can really pick up the blitz and has made some fantastic running and passing plays as well.

In the time of year with Sat NFL .. strange.

Didn't see much of 1st game but Houston was keeping up ... Stroud & Houston has potential. Good close game but how do you beat the Chiefs in KC with Taylor Swift in the house? next week, TJ Watt legit sac Mahomes 5x pleeze.

2nd game ... if someone said that we'd be at this point of the season and Balt and Pitts would be tied at 10-5, the surprise would Balt only 10-5 ??!! and Steelers 10-5 ... really ??!! Not sure of tie-breaker rules but right now, at least, Pitts is #1 and Balt #2 ... but it shouldn't matter when season is over, pretty sure Balt will have the #1 seed. But now the Steelers collecting the W's against easy opponents in the middle of the season is being exposed. Last 2 weeks, they lost to Philly, Balt, and they have KC up next. They are 1 and done in the playoffs. Still a better season result than anyone would have guessed but GTFO for including them in the talk of SB contenders. Balt peaking at right time. With LJ, Henry, Flowers ... pretty hard to stop all three threats. But this gen of Ravens (with LJ), in my books, still have to prove themselves in the playoffs. Let's wait till January and see ... this is their window.
