This is probably true, but lets take the reverse of that, even if they had tried to run the ball for 2 plays, and then thrown it on the last play, and still not gotten it, nobody would have said anything besides the fact that the Pats defense wanted it more, and came up huge.

meme405 02-02-2015 09:05 AM

I think what's being overshadowed by that play call is:

#1 - How the fuck did Kearse still make that catch?

and

#2 - What do they do with Matthews after the post-season he just had...

SkinnyPupp 02-02-2015 09:10 AM

Matthews looked good - beyond just being a guy that the Pats clearly weren't prepared for (but man what a difference that made). I'm sure they can sign him for not too much. I'm more curious to see what sort of situation Russel's new contract will put them in...

For a longtime Patriots fan since 2001, this Superbowl victory is a sigh of relief. The doubters about this team, especially doubts about Brady and Belichick, are silenced with this championship.

-No one is gonna say "Brady lost Three superbowls, two to Eli Manning, one to Wilson, younger quarterbacks". Four rings, baby. :woot2:

Seahawks fans, keep your head up. The twelfth man will continue to roar loud for this championship calibre team.

Although Seattle will have to deal with personnel changes due to salary increases with Wilson and Lynch's contract extensions, Seattle is a championship contender for the foreseeable future. :accepted:
They will rise above this tough loss.

The future is bright, Seattle. It's not always sunshine and rainbows. Just ask the Patriots veterans.

InvisibleSoul 02-02-2015 09:44 AM

I wonder what the odds were for a Patriots win when the Seahawks had the 2nd and goal.

Basically it comes down to ALL of the following had to happened:

- Risky/bad play call by Bevell
- Carroll not overriding the call
- Wilson not overriding the call
- Wilson not making a great pass
- Butler making an incredible read
- Butler successful making the interception

I read somewhere that the Hawks had a 96% chance to win at that point of the game

MarkyMark 02-02-2015 10:11 AM

As crazy as that ending was if Kearse didn't make that somewhat flukey ass catch the game could have been over well before it got as close as it did... So sure the Seahawks lost the game by their own stupidity, after getting a little lucky themselves. Hard to say the Pats didn't deserve to win

sonick 02-02-2015 10:24 AM

Had Seahawks won, what do you guys feel is the crazier catch, Kearse's or Tyree's helmet catch?

murd0c 02-02-2015 10:25 AM

those are two really close plays, both of them are equally as bad I think

I'm not going to get into how much skill or luck was involved in making that catch.

BUT even ignoring the road each team had to take for the last 8 months to get to that game, I think it would be hard to argue that either team deserved to win that game more than the other.

EDIT: What I will say about that catch though, is that it takes tremendous ability to not give up on it after hitting he ground like that. Much like a hockey goalie who doesn't give up on the puck and comes up with a massive save, Kearse pulled it out of him.

I mean to keep your eye on it, and snag it while landing like that is incredible. I will concede that having the ball bounce off your body like that and almost fall in front of his face was lucky to say the least.

I think I said more about that then I wanted to.

It was -950 at the Wynn for the Seahawks to outright win the game at that point. Buddy texted me this morning some lucky fucker put down $5 before the interception on the Patriots at +675 lol.

I wanted to know if Brady was going to take the safety at the 1 yard line it was a moot point cause Bennett went neutral zone infraction but the odds were 4:1 a safety would occur at any point of the game. Take the safety instead of risking a hand off fumble.

If you rewind even further, the correct thing for Butler to have done after the interception is to immediately go down in the end zone, as it would have resulted in a touchback. The Patriots would then have started on the 20 yard line instead of the 1 yard line.

But... this is a all a moot point now.

Ewww. . I respect the guy for the way he prepares his team for games and communicates with all his players, but come on!

Is Belichick trying to distract the media from Deflategate? He's doing a good job with that kiss. #incest :heckno:

He won't have to pay for another drink or meal in Boston.

I've heard Belvedere Vodka has approached Butler for a cross promotion..
