I never was around for the 49er glory years, but could that stat be because SF was so far and away the best team in that era especially offensively? Excuse my ignorance on the topic.

Some rumors about Brandon Marshall signing with Baltimore.. That would make me very happy

3 days later and I'm still in utter disbelief the Seahawks didn't just pound it in and win back to back titles. I guess it fits with my frustration with Bevell getting way to cute at times with goal line calls all year. Well either way, still proud with all the heart and determination the Seahawks showed all year, going into next year I think we'll need to address some help on the oline and wr. Missing Miller was underrated, he's such a great blocking TE, Luke Wilson just isn't consistent enough and fails to often in blocking assignments.

SkinnyPupp 02-04-2015 06:00 AM

Missing Miller was huge for their offense. They really could use a franchise WR...

punkwax 02-04-2015 06:29 AM

Problem is they actually have to pay Russel Wilson now.. see how it goes!

No question they were by far the best team in that era, with a QB like Montana, Jerry Rice in his prime and all of the other defensive and offensive talents they had no one could compete with them.

Not just Wilson, but Wagner needs an extension soon entering his last year of rookie deal, he's the heart/playcaller on the defense, so he'll get big money. Seahawks right now are actually quite comfortably under the cap by just over $23 million, I can see them cutting Miller and perhaps Mebane to free up another $9.7 million if necessary. Resigning Maxwell might be tough this offseason as he'll have a lot of teams after him, if he goes at least the Seahawks have been good at developing/drafting DBs, just got to get more depth in there ahead of Simon, as we all saw what a disaster he was.

Speaking of contract extensions, Marshawn was offered one a few days ago.

Well deserved one for BeastMode.

Still not a fan of the play call, but this shot shows how close it was and Wilson had Lockette open to throw the ball to. Just an absolutely amazing play by Butler

No question it was beyond an amazing plat by Butler, especially going for the pick instead of the tackle is incredible.

If he threw it to Lockette's stomach instead of leading him off, they would at least get another down, if not win the game.

The Patriots knew the exact play that was going to take place. They knew just about every offensive play Seattle was calling that didn't involve a Foot Locker employee being the target.

SkinnyPupp 02-04-2015 04:41 PM

According to Belichick I am right :troll:

Quote:

"There has been a lot of criticism that I don't think is anywhere close to being deserved or founded," Belichick said Tuesday during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI in Boston. "That football team is very good, very well-coached, and Pete does a great job. "Malcolm and Brandon [Browner], on that particular play, just made a great play. I think the criticism they've gotten for the game is totally out of line and by a lot of people who I don't think are anywhere near even qualified to be commenting on it."

murd0c 02-04-2015 04:45 PM

you have to remember that Wilson is only 5'11" as well so its harder for him to throw down when he's short for a qb

I'm already thinking about Superbowl 50! The Golden Bowl, as it's in Santa Clara, California. Brand new stadium, home of the 49ers.

None of those Roman numerals to represent next season's championship game.

The big 5-0! :fuckyea:

Because Super Bowl L just ain't sexy enough. It'll be back the following year as Super Bowl LI though.

Yep! Pre-salary cap era NFL. Eddie D bought those championships. I was born in SF right at the start of the Montana era. Naturally, been a 49er fan literally since birth.

But about that play call. Belichick is right. Too much criticism over the play call. Just about every team in the NFL ran that rub route/pick play in the red zone this year because it's a good play to use in that situation. Unfortunately, shit happens.

7seven 02-06-2015 12:05 PM

There are some reports coming out now that Suh 1st choice would be to sign with Seattle to return "home" to play (from Portland and spends off season in Oregon and Washington) and for a shot to win the Superbowl. No way I can see this happening with the Seahawks cap situation needing to extend Wilson and Wagner and maybe retain Maxwell. Can't see Suh taking a cap friendly deal either, he doesn't seem the type. He's such a dirty player too and a jackass, would have a hard time cheering for him even on the Seahawks.

Mike Oxbig 02-06-2015 01:48 PM

Maxwell is gone.

Report: Seahawks trade for Jimmy Graham | ProFootballTalk

Wow, Jimmy Graham is a Seahawk! Graham and a 4th for Unger and a 1st. Going to suck losing Unger but I like this. Just got to address the oline with a couple of FA or draft picks, since we just lost Unger and Carpenter.
