No, this is why it is worth the $$$ to get an aftermarket alarm installed. Most factory alarms don't have tilt or shock sensors so they can smash the windows and grab what they want and as long as they don't open the doors, none the wiser.

^This. We leave the window on our Fit halfway down now so one can easily reach in and unlock the doors if they wanted to. The thief busted the driver side window and just crawled in and went through the contents. The factory alarm doesn't go off until the door is opened while alarm is armed. I guess we should be happy he didn't screw with the lock.

We ended up replacing the window privately as it was cheaper than the $300 deductible. It's worthwhile to call around for glass repairs as the quotes we got were all over the place, from $200 mobile service installed to $400 part + ~$100 labour, all for the same replacement OEM quality (not OEM) glass

if your car is prone to break ins just empty your glove box and leave it open. It sends a message that you have nothing in the car.

I'll wager on the fact the [woman] neglected to arm the alarm.

Are you suggesting that the OP should confront his lady that she had forgotten to lock the damn cars? .. :fullofwin:

This is actually pretty common in factory alarms. Audi, BMW, Acura/Honda Especially. I won't mention what years and models, but lets just say during many years in the aftermarket bizz, I've seen my fair share of breakins through the driver doorlock.

Best way to check, simply "arm" your alarm and use your key to unlock the door manually, and open the door. See if the alarm goes off or not.

RS Security FAQ I wrote yearssss ago.
