Typo on the 27/28? Or are they having the Friday (28th) as F&F just for that store seeing as all the rest of the Sport Cheks F&F is the 26th/27th (Weds/Thurs)...?

Sorry, friends/family just the 27th.

Marine Drive is officially open to the public on the 27th. They are open on the 26th for a VIP Friends and Family night starting at 7:30-9. Decent bike selection and decent hockey protective as well.

How did you like your hockey and bike training tonight?
Posted via RS Mobile

pinke 09-24-2012 10:19 PM

I have a strong knowledge of hockey so it felt long and boring. But for those who didn't know much about the sport, the training and product knowledge is top notch for an introduction. Bike training was heavy since I don't know much besides the basics and types of bikes out there. but again, good info. They really emphasized on the need and need to know parts since that's the direction they want to go in

And were you there for the 1st night when they went over the basic customer service concept?
How did you find that?
This your first retail job? If so, how easy was it to graps?
If not, how did you like the sportchek model compared to other retailers that you've worked for?

He doesn't work at the same Sport Check as you guys. He use to work at the Richmond Center one and now he is working in Kamloops or was it Kelowna. I'm sure he'll chime in.

I picked up boarding about 3 years ago so I know the products. I know the general stuff with skis like what you need to get but not so much proper fitting

I have worked retail before so the stuff like greeting the customer every time and having a good conversation going wasn't anything new. What sets Sportchek apart from where I previously worked was that they focus on really going beyond just pushing the products and more about the sport/activity and how to give the customer more info. I'm majoring in Kinesiology so pushing for an active healthy lifestyle is nice to see in a retail workplace.

That's good to hear
as a company we have come a long way....and marine is a new generation, where its the first store where we completely dropped the "step by step" selling system and instead just focusing on looking after the customer.

Easy to spot, he's the guy without the truck. :P

can gift cards be used online?

edit nevermind, just called customer service, and they said no.

I am looking for a bicycle helmet, and the store closest to me doesn't stock it. Do I just have to check all stores to find it? or can a store get it in for me?

skiiipi 09-25-2012 11:09 PM

Bump since sale is tomorrow!
Hope you guys are able to find what you'd like.
I'll be at the Marine Drive store tomorrow night for the VIP night as well as Thursday Morning during the opening.

Employee's family and friends
A chance for the new staff to practice what they learned with "customers" but in a safe enviroment.
There will be trainers on site for all department to support the staff during the VIP event
