Rumors are terrible.
To those interested, after I spoke to a very good friend who is a service manager at Ferrari Maserati of Vancouver, the person who had that unfortunate accident is an elderly gentleman who had his vehicle at the show and simply struck a pole and he claimed he didn't see it until the last second.
I think he should be commended for taking that car out and sharing it with the public, his unfortunate accident is likely the result of old age and some misjudgement.
We all should be so lucky as to never get to that stage in life where we can no longer enjoy the passion of cars; what brings us to sites and forums like these.
He obviously loved to share his car with others. I did the same for the first time at Connor's Day, like so many of us did.
Too bad the car is damaged, but there are greater losses in life that are impossible to replace.

I thought he was the guy in the pic.
I remember there being a pic of the same car with the plate B23-097 on here with a brown guy of the same stature with another passenger

"...who had his vehicle at the show and simply struck a pole and he claimed he didn't see it until the last second."

am i the only one who can not make any sense of this? It doesn't really matter anymore, but I just can't imagine how someone doesn't "see" a pole on a curb.

Moving on...

westopher 09-11-2012 12:35 AM

If you don't just see a pole, on the sidewalk, you shouldn't be driving, never mind be driving basically a fucking race car. Sidewalks are for walking, once you get on one in the car, clearly going 60+km/h, even before you hit a pole, something is going quite wrong.

well as has been noted looks like he's got tyres as close to slicks as possible on and it was wet out sooo... kinda expected no?

cool story bro, it must be his son who took it out for the show and vtech kicks in yo.

Even 4 tires with no tread would not go out of control like this if it is being driven under speed limit

NoiZeeBoy 09-11-2012 02:52 AM

Elderly=50+
Brown= maybe, didn't ask/didn't tell
Shitty tires for wet Vancouver roads=yes

All the other points are the main reason I posted.
Bottom line; lets hope a similar thing never happens to us in our days with our ride.

No that's not it at all.
I'm not calling anyone out. Just saying rumors are terrible. My "buddy" is, as I said, a service manager at FMOV who has info first hand about a situation due to the repairs that this car will encounter.
You need to relax my friend, just hate to see people get all messed up when facts aren't present. You weren't there either? Were you?
I have no idea about the real facts, at this point the question is moot.
BUT,
your unsolicited comments to me are juvenile and pretty f-ing stupid, so why don't you GTFO, azzwipe.

LP700-4 09-11-2012 03:38 PM

So many rumors going around.

Heres one from a YouTube comment

There actually is a reason to hate the owner. I live in Vancouver and know quite a bit about this accident. The driver who works for a showroom was driving extremely recklessly from the minute he got in the car. He drove off the curb and scraped it like a son of a bitch, didnt't give a fuck, just floored it down the street and a minute after, karma caught up to him. Unfortunate for the car, but this was no accident.

FreeKickBeasts
If thats the case then i dont feel too bad for the owner. For the car though :tears:

02'topaz 09-11-2012 04:39 PM

Wow, incredible how much false information is present in this thread. The true story is the one already posted about a neurosurgeon being the owner and the sister in law being the driver.

Obviously less of a heartbreak than the F40 but still sucks!

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG crash in Vancouver was second at Luxury Supercar Weekend

Second crash after the show.

"On approximately 1:30 on Sunday September 9th, this Merc was exiting the Luxury Supercar weekend venue on an overcast but dry portion of the day. The female driver missed the photographer's BMW by a few centimetres but managed to plow into a parked Nissan Pathfinder so hard it crunched into the Benz S550 4Matic in front of it"

marksport 09-11-2012 07:57 PM

Will the value of this car change once it's rebuilt? Is the owner going thru insurance to fix it or is he wealthy enough to pay for the repairs himself? Such a rare and valuable car that it may likely be repaired.
