gooing up the whistler tmr, anyone going :o

westopher 03-14-2013 08:38 PM

Rained up the whole mountain today. My buddy who grooms the park said it was the worst night of his life hahaha. If the freezing level dropped off though you could get pretty lucky because there is potentially a lot of snow to fall tonight.

Frig now I don't feel so depressed I was sick today...

westopher 03-14-2013 09:03 PM

Yeah its funny man, you look at the snow report and it says 13cms or whatever. What they don't tell you is that it rained 13mm after that, then froze, then melted again, then rained again, then 100km/h winds made sure to smooth out the ice.

heisenberg 03-14-2013 09:08 PM

hopefully it doesnt rain too much D:

heisenberg 03-15-2013 11:15 PM

wasnt too bad! didnt go to the peak but stayed around green/blue. some areas with soft snow. rained near 3 ish, sun peaked out a bit overall not a bad day

Do you find it a bit hard when the snow gets deep in the 154? Trying to decide between something around that size and a 163 track.

How long is the season going to last until for Cypress?

heisenberg 03-17-2013 10:49 PM

heisenberg 03-18-2013 09:12 PM

TOS'd 03-18-2013 10:55 PM

For the people that have been up to seymour, cypress, or whister lately and how have the roads been up there?

heisenberg 03-19-2013 04:15 PM

cypress roads are fine until you get real close to the top like literally 100m away from the base. i was at whistler on friday and the roads were fine

rexsomnii 03-19-2013 09:16 PM

RS meet on thursday anyone ?

Celica and I are thinking of heading up to Cypress. Need to confirm though.

cypress was bomb yesterday. a small fresh layer of snow everywhere, made carving a dream. got a little snowy near the end of the day.

AzNightmare 03-22-2013 10:10 AM

Did anyone need snow tires to get up there recently?

I'm probably heading up there tomorrow.

Nope, I've already lowered and tossed on my summer tires already and while its cold, it's not slippery

westopher 03-23-2013 09:48 AM

Haha I felt like such a fucking choch when I was parked in a little slush puddle up seymour on thursday with my stretched summers, but yeah it was a mellow drive.

AzNightmare 03-28-2013 12:03 PM

I might be heading up to Whistler for the first time (for snowboarding) in 2 weeks.
I've been told to check out Craigslist for cheaper lift tickets.

Anyone have experience in buying them off CL? How do I tell if they are legit or not?
Are all the lift tickets for Whistler and BlackComb?
I'm just not sure what to look for since I've never seen the ticket before.
I don't want to get shafted and end up buying tickets that only give me "sight seeing" access, for example.

not at all.

the only real benefit of the 163 is hill-climbing.. and even then the 154 keeps up well enough.

XplicitLuder 03-29-2013 10:26 AM

hows the snow up in the local mountains? worth it to go up once more?

Think of mashed potatoes, and think of the consistency, also similar to the consistency of sand as well...

Then think about 15 degree sun, and sunshine, enhanced by 1100 meters of vertical.

Then think about girls wearing less clothing while they are skiing or snowboarding.

Then think about how you can ski/ride in the hot sunshine till 7-8pm

Yes, it's fully worth it.
