Just finished watching this move, Triad Wars ... has some really good action plus scenes, computerized blood scenes and fighting.
Spoiler!
So basically, Sammo Hung leads his gang as one of the top tier, has 5-6 main crew members (his left and right hand men) who are all either good fighters, Jing Wu, and/or killers that can take on 10 guys at once and slaughters them all in a blink of an eye. And under all these main guys, there are the usual followers (leng). Also Sammo's so-called s/o is also his accountant and manages their gang's bank account. Sammo's younger brother also works with him and is a killer with no conscience. Now obviously, police are aware of who and what they do. Most of the scenes involving killing/shooting, director has added many computerized blood splats...Jing Wu's swordsplay is epic, no one can compete with him. All his moves are untouchable, you will see either chopped arms, fingers, legs, sword through the head and bloody bloody body parts everywhere. I watched bloody movies before but surprised to see a HK movie one. Almost all scenes involve shooting/killing/chopping...if you remember watching (Killzone) Donnie Yen and Jing Wu's epic battle in the alley (black vs. white clothing), its exactly like that movie but with more scenes than just one crazy fight. In one scene, where a woman gets her tooth pulled out, in fact 2 teeths get pulled out and her nail with inner skin exposed shows the bloody side of how she made the mistake of making threats to the s/o. When the crew members asked who taught her these threats, she mentions her adulterer. Which ends up, they regroup and ask who wants to take him down? One main member volunteers and immediately goes into a killing spree of the target and slaughters him and his crew. In a blink of an eye, he slaughters them without a care in the world...kinda like those slow motion action films. Each of these crew members are straight serial killers and will kill once an order is issued. There are no hesitant...like that chinese saying "Killing without a blink of an eye." Hope thats worded correctly...LOL...
Storyline changes later into s/o and one crew member plotting to steal Sammo's money but gets discovered and ends up own gang fighting each other.
I will end it here for the ppl to watch themselves, but one thing to add (when you see it)...who the heck tried to kill the younger brother at the pier? I mean, everyone's dead already...is it Fa-Fit and his crew?
Francis Ng, Ekin Cheng, Jordan Chan, Simon Yam, Sandra Yip, Anthony Wong, to name just a few from the original, were already established stars and first-line actors and actresses in HK at the time they filmed the Young and Dangerous series.
Replacing that with the current generation of casts with likes of Oscar Leung and Him Law, the 2 most notable in the movie, whom I wouldn't even considered popular stars in today's HK entertainment, is pretty sad. Him Law got popular from Tiger Cubs, from one TVB drama, then he got chosen to main as Chan Ho Nam. Compare his acting to Ekin Cheng. I'd rather see Ekin (and that doesn't leave much to desire). Oscar Leung that plays "Chicken", on the other hand, is another rising actor, but has yet to even grasp a supporting role (2nd-line actor) in TVB and he's given such an important role in Y&D. The guy has been in the industry for some time, but I wouldn't even consider him to be a good actor. An experienced actor - yes. Also knowing the fact that Wong Jing hasn't released a decent movie in over 15 years pretty much gives this movie a write-off.

Just my 2 cents.
^+1. Watching the trailer was already pretty disappointing. Hope this movie won't ruin the name of "Young and Dangerous". If only they were able to get back Ekin, Jordan, etc, I would probably pay double just to watch it..

Both Ekin and Jordan probably won't do it anymore. It took a long time Jordan to shake off that gangster image after he's done the original series, for a long time all he was doing was gangster gangster gangster. He has progress beyond that now I doubt he will return to doing this again seeing as how he has already immortalize the character mountain chicken
The store on top of TNT on 1st Avenue has Triad movie for sale.
Got a copy today.
Fuck the store on 1st ave imo. I started going there 7 years ago and at first their stuff was fairly solid as in it was actually DVD quality, played perfectly, and had awesome selection then slowly the quality started to go down and way too often some didn't even work or was fucked up. I gave up and just started downloading the honger movies instead.

Triad wasn't a great movie but I did like that it was a bit more violent. It wasn't by any means blood and guts like Spartacus the show but for a HK movie it was quite a step up from the violence in the Y&D movies which I enjoyed.
