| ebay warning
so i sold a Escort Passport 8500 x50 radar detector on ebay last week, the thing works perfect, no problems yadda yadda, so buyer messages me and says thing is acting up and doing weird stuff, i say it worked fine when i sent it and he declined insurance plus right in listing i posted no warranty and no returns. So he asks for his money back i decline because i thinkhes trying to pull a fast one on me, i personally think he had a bad one and is trying to swap it out for mine then get his money back. He makes a complaint to ebay demanding his money back and ebay agrees with him, even though it says no warranty and no return in description of item!!!!
so apparently it doesnt matter what you say in your description the seller has no rights at all.
So know they want me to repay this douche bag $172 and i get a f*cked item back!!! I call ebay and there response is nothing we can do, but we will waive the seller fees!!!! lol what $3!!!!
So just a warning to people selling on ebay u have no rights at all!
I will never use ebay and paypal again becuse of this!
i even told them that he said ok thanks for using ebay!!!
So pissed off!!!

did you record the serial number?
if indeed you get the broken one from the buyer instead of the one you sent you can tell them it's different serial number

I used to work for ebay. They always side with the buyers. Cancel your credit card and close your paypal so the buyer can't file a claim and screw you over. Posted via RS Mobile |

You know sellers can't even leave negative feed anymore, eBay has gone downhill in recent years and that's why I'm wary of selling high priced items on there.
With PP you are protect somewhat if you send the item to a confirmed address. Always and I mean ALWAYS take pictures of your item, record serial numbers and send your item with full tracking including signature confirm and insurance. The oldest scam in the book is the chargeback scam where the buyer makes a false claim with his/her CC company and files a chargeback.

Legit. I'd just cancel CC and close eBay account and tell them to fuck off.
Don't even bother with that shit. If your not going to use eBay anymore, why bother with this hassle? People these days are just scumbags.

Selling is always a lot more risky than buying on eBay, which is why I only do the latter now. Same thing happened to me with a cell phone, except even if you close your Paypal account they will still go after you for the money. They will start calling you from day to day asking for the money and I've heard that they can mess up your credit rating too...

It's stories like this that makes me glad that I've decided to stay away from eBay. I'm sure there are tons of legit buyers and sellers and that the OP simply got snagged by one of the crappy ones... but it's usually not worth the risk. I'm fine with buying a cheap $2 cable from China 'cause if it doesn't show up, it's not a big deal. But I'm done with dealing items over a $50 or so. Just not worth it anymore. Besides, there are usually people locally that would want whatever you're selling anyway. So much less hassle, even when you have to deal with all the lowball emails.

i think there used to be a website paypalsucks.com that has all the horror stories of paypal. i rarely use ebay anymore and go with amazon.com
at least amazon is legit and i don't have to waste my time with bidding on something and waiting to see if it's mine or not.
i don't think i'd ever sell electronics on ebay. too easy to be scammed.

On the flip side,
if you bought a product and received it and it didn't work, what would you want paypal to do for you?
Regardless of what you say on your ebay page regarding refunds and exchanges, paypal protects buyers just like your credit card company does. It's a fair process and we will all benefit from the protection at one time or another.

That's a pretty shitty deal.
I've fortunately never encountered any real scammers selling on eBay. I've probably completed over a couple hundred transactions as a seller.
The biggest dispute I had was when one buyer accidentally cut the jacket I sent him when opening up the box. I had it stuffed into the box quite tightly, so when he used the knife to open it, he sliced the jacket. Surprisingly, even though he claims that the box was packed too tightly, he admitted he was the one who sliced the jacket, so fortunately eBay sided with me and did not find me responsible to compensate him.

a local buyer wants me to paypal or interac for a cd-key (game that I have on CL)
is interac safe? not familiar with it but i assume they can't bait and switch because it states Quote:
An Interac e-Transfer transaction cannot be reversed once the recipient of the funds has deposited the transfer. You must obtain a refund directly from the recipient.
| and he is not after my bank info because all they need is my e-mail to send the transfer.

Hey OP, just curious, what kind of feedback did the buyer have? Back in the old days I remember some sellers requiring x number of positive feedback before being allowed to bid. Otherwise the seller would just cancel their bid. I don't remember if I did that as well... It's been a long time since I've sold anything on there.
Just an idea. Always good to try and minimize the risk.

Whenever I deal with people on CL,I tell them ahead of time I only take cash.I even bring a black light with me if the amount is in large bills.

I boughT a v1 off eBay. I learned tHe item was defective and needed a tune up. Contacted seller, he will reimburse me repair fees. Sent my device to v1 for repair, $70 including shipping. Seller gave me back $70 on PayPal twice! He never asked for the money back. So I paid $100 for a v1. Win
