That back yard is pretty lack luster though. Builders never seem to prioritize a covered outdoor space, they would rather give you more interior square footage. I would think with a house that size, why not throw 200-300 sq/ft to a covered patio?

That style driveway sucks. Pain in the ass to park in.

Just lucky I guess. I still feel like the same old east van kid ripping off bus drivers with 3 nickels instead of 3 quarters.

This whole lifestyle is foreign to me and I’ll never adjust to it. Hence my love affair with Kirkland / Costco clothing. That’s the real inner hobo.

I thought the same thing but was a non-issue in reality for me. I commute into Richmond regularly from Tsawwasen and it's not any worse than my commute from DT Vancouver - if anything it's an easier and more relaxing drive despite the congestion thanks to all that farmland.

The highway into Tsawwassen is practically a straight line so it shouldn't be that difficult for your wife to navigate (also doubles as a runway for your Ratrolla to stretch at legal speeds ofc). The tunnel is the toughest part but it helps if you have an EV or HOV access.

That said, congrats on your new home! Bummed you didn't find something in Tsawwassen though - we could've been neighbors :alone:

Ohhh I found something there alright ! There’s lots of fantastic homes that are 4500ft and excellent. But the wife and I just couldn’t come to an agreement about the location.

The nail in the coffin was when she opened up fan tuan app and found nothing. Similar to Uber eats. White spot can only sustain us for so long.

Yeah the food options aren't great right now - especially if you're craving something Chinese.

Thankfully that might change soon:

They plan to introduce a wide range of new Asian restaurant offerings, including cuisine showcasing the unique culinary styles of Southern China, East China (Shanghai), Northeastern China, Hong Kong-style cafes and BBQ, and Chinese hot pots, as well as Indian, Thai, and Taiwanese cuisines, amongst others.

There will be a 15,000 sq ft elevated food court concept, and an 18,000 sq ft indoor children’s playground and education experience.

How is it any different than a pull up driveway?

At least you have some time at 2%. My variable mortgage started right at the beginning of the rate hikes. We only spent 1 month at the original 2.5% and hit our trigger in 3 months and only up since then :lawl:

I depends on how wide the driveway is. If the driveway is not wide enough you have to do a 3 point turn. That's why some houses have a turntable installed to turn the car 45 degrees. Saw a listing for a house in Vancouver that had one. Also if you park a car in the drive way you can't get a car out of the garage. depending on how the car is parked and how wide the drive way is.

Parents have a garage on the side like in the picture but the driveway is not as wide. it's a pain to get a car out so they are planing to redo it so you pull straight in.

Just for lawls I was trolling the wife today with these listings in the UK. Why buy a piece of shit Vancouver home when you can live in a castle ?!?

Enough left over to get an Alfred to call you “Sir” too.

JDMDreams 07-12-2023 05:53 PM

I'm looking at places in Toronto and it's even crazier 3 mil plus for a house with no parking :fulloffuck:

There's an instagram account dedicated to that. The guy showcases castles in Europe vs houses in Vancouver and Toronto that are the same money.

I would probably just back into the driveway if it were me. I don't think it's wide enough to turn around without a three-point turn

The idea of living in a castle is romantic, but you really don't want to.

PeanutButter 07-12-2023 09:12 PM

Imagine having to park your car in the garage and then walking 100M to your house.. lol

MarkyMark 07-12-2023 09:28 PM

I don't believe in ghosts but I'm almost certain you're going to hear little kids laughing from somewhere in the house while you try and sleep.

So you mean living in a condo :fullofwin:

Badhobz 07-12-2023 09:31 PM

Pretty sure it’ll be hilarious to have a Chinese guy buy a UK castle. All the white ghosts that haunt that place will be utterly losing their shit.

Who’s colonizing who huh ?!?!? How you like me now

Listed my 2bd basement suite in Coquitlam and received 100+ applications in 3 days.

90% of the applicants are new/recent immigrants with young families, TFW, or intl students. If you don't seem like the perfect model tenant you don't stand a chance.

And fuck all these BS universities charging these intl students 40k+ for a program. What a fucking sham of an industry.

For those who have mortgage renews in the next 2-3 years, how are you guys preparing for the hit? (assuming rates hover at 5-6%).
