You really appreciate things whether they're big or small and show it.
That kind of stuff and the energy around it is infectious to others, I know your kid must pick up on that and he's growing up as a can do person not a woe is me/why me person.

We're all animals. We are largely influenced by our environment, this is well documented within the literature.
If you have a misbehaving dog, it's not the dogs fault. It's yours the owner. Same with a child.
Parents and owners and people in general do not take accountability for their actions. It's always someone else's fault. We rarely look in the mirror thinking we're the problem, when most times we are the problem and we're too conceited to acknowledge that. | I was going to say, a good leader isn’t a dictator. Lol.

I never got the ops to do activities as a kid so I suck at everything. Trying to make up for it now lol | I see the extracurricular activities merely as an introduction to try something new, see how they like it, and get them into having hobbies and interest in sports, so I am not super concerned about how well they can do in them.
The single exception is swimming because I see it as a life skill / life saving skill. If you can't swim, there is a shxtload of stuff you can't do. Even just going to the waterpark to play might be somewhat risky.
So far, except for drawing class, I think my kid sucks at everything we put him into. And he is only 1/2 decent in drawing class because he is somehow interested in it.
Normally, my theory is -- if an activity is something you like, you'll do better at it. And conversely, if you are good at something, there is a much higher chance that you'll enjoy it too. But of course, this would not apply if the parents are super strict about the activity, and keeps drilling the kid to perform at an ever higher performance level to the point where it takes the fun out even though the kid is already very good in it.

^ I think most young parents our age has the same mentality; we don't really need our kids to perform at a good level for anything... its not like they will be earning a living from these activities, its more to help them with patience, discipline, working as a team to achieve a goal, working towards a goal, practice makes perfect etc etc...
Having said that and to answer Gerbs question
Swimming - I used to a hold a Bronze Cross lifeguard medallion (now expired), parents also saw it as a life skill, and yes it did help me get super "high-paying" easy summer jobs while I was younger
Piano - I am grade 6 myself, didn't go all the way because I hated piano as a child (but that changed in High School cuz I realized I can show off to girls LOL), the Grade 6 was pain and sweat from Shanghai, we didn't continue once we got here in Canada because we were in no financial position to put me thru Piano here, though now My mom is like I should finish Grade 10 + ARCT, because she sees it as a failure of me hahaha.
Volleyball - My wife was on her high school team, got silver 2 years in a row at her home city.
Painting though - both me + wife cant draw for shit... so LOL... daughter already draws leagues and bounds better than what I can do in try hard mode so there hahaha.
We didn't really force our kids to our own hobbies, but like someone said earlier, I guess the atmosphere at home just somewhat gravitated to these activities.
One other benefit for kinda knowing what you are doing is if you can tell if your child is just BSing thru "practice" or not doing "the correct techniques" etc etc, also understanding what the teacher/instructor are telling your kids, so you can reinforce them to your kids during practice

^This is basically it. It's more for the rounded experience than actually expecting him to become some star Soccer player or musician.
Like I come from a pretty Soccer nut family. Dad played semi-pro in Europe in his 20's, then played beer league over here until about 15 years ago when he sustained some major back injuries at work. Now he referees on weekends.
My sister played BC premier league until her late teens, when she suffered a knee injury that took her out. After that she coached at TSS in Richmond for a number of years (she coached some of the girls on team Canada that won olympic gold in Tokyo). She's done with all that now though.
I played BC Premier League up until high school, then really didn't care for it anymore and stopped. I did some refereeing as well, was at what is now considered grade 7 (Refereeing over 60's games when I was 18 lol)
I can already see from the way my kid is playing, that he doesn't have that sort of inherent skill to go far in Soccer though (you can already start seeing who the star players are going to be at this age) lol. But he doesn't mind doing it for now so we'll keep him going..

come on guys, everyone (or family) is clearing 250K+ and I am here showing off my dick cuz I scratched 100K as family income lolol
I mean I have never owned a M, AMG, RS product.....that has to be the bottom 5% of RS right?
All jokes aside, I am actually genuinely happy that everyone is doing well. In a way, I feel proud that somehow, I proved my mom wrong. My mom always said that "automotive is a bad hobby", I was hanging out with the "wrong people" in her eyes.
Now I tell my mom (don't think she will ever admit it though) that truth have shown that people who like cars can also be very successful. Everyone I know has moved into 6 figure cars... and they are my aspirations to better myself so I can be in that position one day and splurge on a 6-figure car... Quote:

Even my wife who before meeting me could care less about cars will now send me photos of STi and EVOs etc etc hahaha I made her watch Initial D (just another excuse so I can re-watch it) but she ended up really liking it. And she puts up with me watching F1 at 2am in the living room with sound blasting... soooo yea.... Quote:

I have seen the classic "everyone on rs is balling" comment on these forums for many years
It's time we settle this
The only poll website I found that does not require an account, one vote per IP, guest made, unfortunately the "results after end date" function does not work. Use at your own discretion.
What's your NET worth, if you sold everything you have today and had 0 debt.
Cars, real estate, stonks, etc.
Minus realtor fees, taxes, commissions, etc.
If you have a wife, your final number gets cut in half since technically she owns half. Or for those of you lucky bastards that married a rich one, maybe multiple your number by 2x lol.... https://strawpoll.com/e7ZJGK7aLy3
InB4 results are rigged with false votes lol

Categories are 20-30, 30-40, 40-50? Anyone who's 30 or 40 or 50 years old falls into two categories.
a 1 million+ category? Too much variation between someone with 1,000,001 or 5 Million

This isn't scientific research, it's a generic poll, if you want to go into details, add kids, what city you are in, what you do for work, did you inherit 500k , etc
If you have over a million, you have activated Balling Hard status
