I'm willing to bet PeanutButter would disown his child when they turn 18 and tell him they want to go into extreme right or left wing journalism...without pay.

He arrived on time and started work right away. He asked me if there was anything in particular that I was concerned about and I let know what I had in my notes. He took pictures of everything and went through the house via a checklist (he has a sample report on his website and you can view what it looks like there). He has a thermal camera which showed temp readings for everything from windows to the breaker. He spent around 2 hours to complete the inspection (duplex).

He was thorough in his inspection and was quick to use painter tape to identify blemishes. I found his comments about the home/equipment insightful and as a result of his observations, we created an addendum of things for the seller to fix. He also had some heads up comments about how to use what, when, etc...

Overall, I was pleased with the work and would recommend/use him again.

Thanks for the recommendation, GLOW!

glad he was able to help you out, he's a pretty nice guy when i chatted with him many years ago, even found out we had some professional acquaintances.

yes he has some nice toys for inspection. good luck with your purchase. still very reasonable pricing too!

It's not that bad when you get a couple of room / house-mates, which is a pretty typical thing to do here.

First thing I did when I came, was refer a bunch of friends from Van / TO and get them moved over too. Four of us wound up for years living in a detached townhouse together. One of us slept under the stairs with a curtain pulled across his cot. Good times, saved a lot of money :D.

Some people go even cheaper: plenty live in vans in the parking lot at work. Ranging from beater Ford Econolines to my coworker's sweet Mercedes Sprinter overlanding build. They just use the bathroom / showers at work lol.

Canadurrrr where you can live like Harry Potter

RabidRat 01-28-2024 02:58 PM

I mean, Harry Potter turned out pretty great. He's the greatest wizard of all time short of maybe Gandalf.

Manic! 01-28-2024 05:25 PM

man Honda is soft. But I bet he also spends money to sleep in a tent in the bush like a homeless person.

I have a buddy who does not understand camping. He say's I work my ass off for a nice house a big TV and a bunch of other things and then people think I should spend more money sleep outside, shit in dirt, and wipe my ass with leaves.

Hondaracer 01-28-2024 05:43 PM

Bra, I’ve killed more big game than family members under a manic households roof

I could live with nothing and be fine, I’m just not into normalizing these third world conditions people are living in in Canada trying to justify it as normal because they are “grinding” or whatever stupid shit you try say it amounts to lol.

Live like you’re in the slums of India, abuse the system to its fullest degree. Sweet

My family gave up hunter/gathering a long time a go. We go to places now called grocery stores where you give them money and they give you meat. No need to sleep outdoors in the dirt.

FYI: Rooming houses have always existed in North America. It's not third world.

Yay boarding houses were a thing in North America before.

Aren't we supposed to progress... not stay the same/regress?

I'm so close to buying a house while still on the precipice that I'm going full optimist prime and not giving up. It helps that this year has only started. I've taken on side gigs to help pad with funds, particularly rainy day.

Not buying in Vancouver though, fuck that.

We live in one of if not the best country in the world. You expect some kid from India going to school working part time or even full time to be living in a 1 bedroom condo in Vancouver?

This is the layout of a dorm room at UBC.

Lets not forget how Mormons role.

How about frats and Sororities?

My cold dorm, in particular, has 42 girls sleeping in it, so we have about 21 bunk beds. In the cold dorm, the windows are always open year-round — so whether it's 100 degrees or 0 degrees outside, the windows are open. It's also dark 24/7, and you have to be quiet all the time."

The privilege of living in a cold dorm does not come cheaply. According to the university's Panhellenic Association guide, the live-in dues for its chapter are $10,595 per year.

If I was in my 20's moving to some foreign country that I did not know a lot about I would not mind living with a bunch of guys who could show me the ropes. It could be pretty fun. My parents would also like it.

I don't think there is anything my children could do that would make me want to disown them. I'm convinced unconditional love is only possible once you have children.

Hypothetically, you'd probably be into little boys so that won't be as advantageous as you think

You haven't seen enough sh*t in the world. What if one of your child stole a huge amount of money from you or from one of your other children (when they are in their 30's or 40's). What if one of your children (married with children) leaves his/her spouse for another partner of the same gender and effing up the psychology of your grandchildren?

Unconditional love ideally is true ... but never say never. Sometimes disowning is the only proper appropriate response.

MarkyMark 01-29-2024 07:47 AM

I think the times you see it the most are when the kid becomes an addict and they just aren't even the same person anymore. They steal from you, lie about everything and basically ruin your life if you try and have any kind of relationship with them.

Yea, god forbid someone actually follow through with who they actually are as opposed to living in hiding their entire life for the sake of others. Better disown them!
