Was just browsing and it seems like the buyer got a good deal for a like-new 3bed penthouse. These were probably sold presale for 1M+ before GST..

68style 01-30-2024 07:31 AM

It's a hard sell when you are trying to offload a non-water view penthouse anywhere and you want pretty much 7 figures and you're still saddled with a $700 a month strata fee lol

Gerbs 01-30-2024 08:20 AM

And you don't have a rooftop hottub, or anything that makes it cooler than a normal 3BR.

The kitchen / living / hosting space is narrow for a 3BR PH.

Completely agreed, pretty lackluster for a 'PH'

There's a few really well done Vancouver Specials around, but the problem I have with those houses are typically the damn thing is not very well built to begin with, and if you are going down to the studs on a 800k reno, you'd be better off with a brand new build that will give you clever modern designs and space use, and arguably similar build quality anyways.

Regarding the messy work sites, they'll just bury all that shit when landscaping comes.

So continuing the theme of FUCK YOU BUDDY GUY BUILDERS:

On today's episode:

DRYER VENT hose gets compressed/smooshed when i push in the dryer.

Synopsis: My dryer showed D80 and then D85 and finally D90 error code. I looked it up and it says the air flow is restricted (80%, 85% and finally 90%). So i thought this NEW FUCKING HOUSE has lint clogged in the pipe. I buy this giant tube brush and go at it. Very little shit comes out (of course very little shit comes out, its a new house!)
https://i.postimg.cc/L6RJtdtn/IMG-4183.jpg

So then im thinking its because when i push the dryer in, it compresses the air flow
https://i.postimg.cc/xCV7XdLx/IMG-0083.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/rs8P9Yn5/IMG-0084.jpg

Moral of the story: Fuck you designer prick, fuck you buddy guy, fuck everyone in this god damn business you low life pieces of shit.

p.s. here's how the vent pipe is run. why does it have to go up and over. WHO KNOWS. Piss poor design thats why

3+ million fucking dollars and you get these micky ass mouse problems that i didnt have in my 47 year old piece of shit.

Hondaracer 01-30-2024 09:35 AM

The vent is inside the wall like that? Like your drawing?

Lol like pretty sure that isn’t even code, I don’t think you can have a bunch of 90’s on that run

My guess would be it’s going up to avoid the foundation wall or footing? Lol

Badhobz 01-30-2024 09:36 AM

yup its full of fucking 90 degree angles

underscore 01-30-2024 09:37 AM

Why do you have 20 feet of flex between the dryer and the wall?

My vent run is even stupider than that and it manages to work fine. If goes down 8 feet, left 6 feet, forward 20 feet and then up 2 feet. There's like 5 90's in it.

Hondaracer 01-30-2024 09:38 AM

Because it came in the box like that? :lol

well i need it, cuz i gotta hook it to the vent first, and then push it in. theres no space for a fat ass 6'2 chinaman to fit
while pushing it in, im sure its getting compressed and kinked along the way. by the time i make it flush with the washer im sure its tangled to shit

Hehe 01-30-2024 09:55 AM

Just get a heat pump dryer. No vent needed.

Other than taking longer to dry and a bit smaller in size, I've yet to see any downside. Cloth seem to last longer with them too as the temperature doesn't reach as high as normal dryer. About 35% less energy consumption as well

Badhobz 01-30-2024 09:59 AM

is that the shit where you gotta empty a water tank? if so fuck that. Who cares about energy savings, i wanna destroy the earth not protect it (why do you think i drive a v8 and make loud exhaust noises (not from my ass))

Yep when I was looking at building a new house or renovating something I couldn't make the math work on a renovation of a Van Special once I took into consideration how much more space I would get from a new build. At the time I think the math was something like:

3400sf new build: land $1.6m, new house $1-1.2m = 2.8m
2200sf Van special: land/house $1.8m, renovation: $800k = 2.6m

It was only worth renovating a Van Special if you were doing a buddy guy renovation so that you could flip it.

jing 01-30-2024 10:03 AM

Wasn't your house a new build too? Your washer/dryer looks even older than the set I bought 3 years ago. Plastic dryer vent hoses are also a big no no I thought although anecdotally we used one for nearly 30 years in the old family home without burning down the house.

Move the washer out of the way and hook up the dryer first? Or train the chihuahuas to do it.

Can you pull out washer to get access instead? Shorten that flex hose if need be.

Edit: just noticed the counter above, that may make things more interesting. Lol good luck!!

Try drying a load with the dryer pulled out and you can confirm your hose isn’t kinked. Can atleast narrow down the problem.

Badhobz 01-30-2024 10:05 AM

??? i dont know what model or set this garbage LG is. It has a steam function which is a joke cuz it cant even dry.

I tried to move the washer out of the way first, but then that eletrical plug cant extend that far (also you shouldnt use an extension)
I even tried to send tiny spy balloon in there but she couldnt even fit in that tight space.

My work and aunt had one of these and they take significantly longer to dry.
A normal dryer would take 30-40mins to dry, with the heat pump dryer (ventless) it would take 90-120 minutes to dry and they are at least 50% smaller.

For any household of greater than two people, I would not recommend it.

PeanutButter 01-30-2024 10:12 AM

Also, for those LG washers and dryers, do you guys use any other setting other than "Normal"? lol

I never play around with any of the settings. Is there a more efficient mode or setting I should be using?

Badhobz 01-30-2024 10:16 AM

yeh, there's a function called "self-destruction" cuz all LG/Samsung are pieces of shit and they all die a month or two after their warranty period ends.
When i saw this place had LG washer set, i told the realtor i wanted money off. He told me to eat a dick.

Great68 01-30-2024 10:21 AM

It's a little bit of work, but I'd install one of these:

Like fuck I’d pay a kid to come after school and just pile shit up or put it into trash cans but people just leave their sites filled with shit scattered everywhere until it’s time to landscape or build forms

We should consult Manic! on this one; I bet he has an explanation.

Shitty workspaces make shitty workers.

lack of site cleanliness/organization is usually one of the first red flags for me when i first step on a site.
