Lawl. So I sold some Canadian tire ramps for oil changes with my mom’s account. I met up with this dude and he’s like I was expecting a 67 year old Chinese woman.
I’m like yeah you’re looking at her.
And he’s like uhhhh here’s your money and then quickly ran off |

Luckily the mom called earlier and seems like she is motivated to come from Alberta to sort things out. The resto guys also told me that they will be able to do the initial clean-up to make sure the space is going to be safe to enter, but from the sound of it, a lot of stuff likely has to be replaced.

Another safe place to smoke meth so there are less casualties
Its time for race tracks to be built in every city so there are less casualties involving speeding
Also: these tracks should provide free clean tires, fuel, and entry

I’m for recovery/not letting people die from poison drugs but the fact that there were over 2500 OD deaths in BC in 2023 and only 26 of those were in Richmond.. this really does seem misguided.
Like.. obviously this is going to drive drug users to this place/area which likely wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

Rent is so damn high that it's cheaper for this student to fly to Vancouver for school vs living here. https://bc.ctvnews.ca/ubc-student-co...rent-1.6759116 Quote:
Vancouver’s sky-high rental prices have forced many residents to find creative ways to be able to afford to live in the city.
Turning to creativity is exactly what Tim Chen did to avoid paying rent in Vancouver.
For Chen, commuting to class looks very different, as a final year arts student at the University of British Columbia.
"I thought, why don't I just stay at Calgary and then just fly here, it’s like a one-hour flight, that’s like the same as taking a bus,” he said.
Chen is originally from Calgary. He had previously been living in Vancouver while studying at UBC, but gave up his rental unit while he went on vacation during the fall.
When he returned, he was met with sticker shock.
"When I checked the house price I thought, oh shoot, there was a big increase!" he said. “I need to pay like $2,500 for the rent, so I don't feel like it's viable."
He began looking at the price of flights from Calgary to Vancouver and realized they were about $150 round trip.
He takes two classes per week at the unversity.
In total he’ll pay about $1,200 for the flights per month while he lives at home with his parents in Calgary. Ultimately, it's much cheaper than the average price of a one-bedroom apartment in Vancouver, which sits at about $2,100.
"I've got three hours of class in total, after the class, I go back to the bus and go back to the airport!" Chen said.
Vancouver continues to lead the way as Canada’s most expensive city for renters. But, finding a place to rent is even more difficult with the 0.9 per cent vacancy in the city.
Chen plans to fly to UBC for his two classes until the end of the academic year, when he graduates.

That's what I've been saying, it's like cheaper and faster to get to Calgary than Victoria. Or a traffic jam from Van to chiliwack

I can’t believe you can get a degree for 2 in person classes a week. Lol.
Kid still needs to sky train and catch a bus. Add in security he has a 4+ hour commute each way. $150 tickets means a low cost carrier and his chance of cancellation is exponentially higher. No wonder the kid is getting an ARTs degree. lol (coming from a guy with no degree )

I've heard some of them spend quite a lot of their time dealing with OD's so even if there's not that many deaths it might still be saving a lot of resources.

is UBC known for arts? | Depends on what the kid is after but globally, UBC's optics ranks very high in the prestige of university rankings.
Places like Hong Kong, for example, its government and policies on expats applying for jobs list UBC as a preferred university which fast tracks your job and residency visa no matter what your degree is in.
University of Alberta is not in any of those lists, so....yeah. Gotta pick your battles carefully.

Ie. if Vancouver say 1000 deaths, you can guarantee there’s probably 50 times that in saved lives
Again, just doesn’t seem to scale in the Richmond case but oh well..

Honestly, where you get an undergrad degree means really dick all. It might be more important for a graduate/terminal degree, eg. Masters. I mean for that kid who is getting 10 mins of fame, we're talking about an Arts degree for heaven's sakes!

Its all work experience, who you work for, and how many years youve worked there. I think those resume filters from employers just skim to see if you have an undergraduate degree, they don't even care from where or from whom.

Dunno.. everyone I know with a masters/PHD is doing very well, regardless of the school.
My sister got masters in nursing and she’s killing it has opened virtually every door in nursing for her and got her masters doing remote schooling.
Our old tenant had his doctorate in math.. guy has jumped around in Vancouver basically getting 6 figure stock option after 6 figure stock option for contract work.
Of course if you get an education in some stupid useless shit you’re not gonna go anywhere. But people who get high level educations in desired fields have endless options.
