Speaking re: wealth, some stuff is just plain weird..
So this passed weekend on Pender we saw this yacht doing sea-trials, built in 2021 I believe
94 meters long (about 8 meters shorter than Washington’s Yacht in north van *boo hoo*)
This boat is worth about 195 million USD
This yacht is owned by one of the co-founders of UFC, who’s family are also involved in casinos..
Now, his net worth was sonthing like 2.2 billion dollars, his bio also said he owns a Bombardier Global express which is between 34-50 million USD
So you’ve got 250 million dollars in a yacht and a plane.. that’s like what 20% of your net worth?
No to mention that yacht is 15-25 million per year in operating costs.
I get that he probably has an insane constant income, these things are business expenses etc. but when you’re at this level of wealth, a shit load of it can likely disappear over night, yet a bunch of it is wrapped up in what are essentially toys? Lol seems insane
Oh and this 300 ft yacht is only the 98th largest yacht in the world.. Dennis Washington’s was somthing like 93rd.. so there are 97 boats in the world bigger than this.. lol
These mega yachts are the opitome of the retardation of wealth and society as a whole.

If you are worth $2.2-billion, it's quite conceivable that you would have $1.5-billion or more in cashflow producing investments (aka the stuff that's not real estate, not a yacht, not a plane, not cars, etc).
A boring investment portfolio, broadly diversified, blue chip holdings would likely produce a minimum of $150million per year in cashflow. So spending $50-million in annual costs to run your yacht, plane, and houses still means your net worth is increasing each year. It's a big splurge, but very easily sustainable based on those figures.

If you have 2.2B NW and 250M in toys the other 2B+ is generating a fuck ton, that's so much money you'll never spend it all.
Even if you spent $2.1B, $100M is able tobuy everything in this world.

A guy with 2 billion can have 99% of his wealth tied up in a yacht and is still doing better than a guy who's only got 10% of his wealth tied up in his canoe. Once you have that much nothing matters.

When you look at people who have slightly larger yachts though, they are generally considerably more wealthy.
We saw a similar sized yacht in desolation a few years back and the American owner was worth more than double this guy.
I guess to the points on the previous page, the level of wealth you have to be to own these things/homes/etc. is just at another level where it’s no longer about your net worth but really your potential
Dennis Washington is worth almost triple the guy above and his dinky little yacht is only 8 meters longer

Speaking of yacht's, I have a down payment on the Tecnomar Lamborghini 63 yacht. My cousins who lives in Dubai are going in with me and we're going to dock it Dubai and rent it out. It would be cool to bring down to Vancouver for during summer.
yah, mansions that are like more than 4000 sqft are WAY too big even if you can afford it, 1/2 the rooms aren't used, cleaning it is PIA. By the time you can afford one of those, all your kids are probably gone to Yale, Stanford, MIT, .... it's terrible to have that much space when it's just 2 of you. Then you got to hire a live in helper to do the cooking and cleaning.

How would you bring it to Vancouver if it's in Dubai? These aren't actually open ocean worthy are they?

I believe the only way to ship it over would be via LoLo shipping. It’s big money just to ship it for the summer season. Plus, you have to deal with customs, Transport Canada compliance, and other permits. It’s definitely doable if you’ve got the cash, but it’s way above my pay grade.
Whatever happened to those container houses, pre fab bricks? Shit that you can just drop off a truck and stick together. Or 3d print. Or is that a no due to hating China and all the labourers losing their jobs.

Pre-fab is quite limiting mainly due to its dimensions. You need it built under certain limitations so it can be shipped afterward. And either all houses look the same, or you aren't get much savings at all.
Container is a horrible choice for housing. First, if you take used containers, they need to be washed/processed to get rid of any and all stuff you don't want in your house. Then insulating that thing would get rid of much space inside. Not to mention that if you want a window... it's a pain to cut properly.
3D machine has potentials but it's not the endgame. There are a lot of limitations due to how the materials are being used. So a lot of limitation when it comes to shape and height (load-bearing).
theres bunch of "harro boss" chinarr container houses by the night market
Would be pretty cool as a coach house/ backyard office

Speaking of yachts, man Desolation Sound is one beautiful spot, I can see why Dennis has an island around there.
We stern tied up in Pendrell Sound for the long weekend, and the kind of yachts you see out there would blow your mind. We felt ghetto on our 50ish foot boat.
I had no idea the kind of party these old whites throw out there on the long weekend every year, they bring a barge out and have this Havana themed party, everyone dressed in Tiki stuff, fedoras, tons of American boats, not a single minority in sight
It felt very Bohemian Grove.
We got invited to this massive yacht for happy hour and fuck it was weird, I showed up shirtless and soaking wet from swimming about for a few hours, the weird looks we got when we boarded was hilarious. The 2 hookers with us proceeded straight to the Charcuterie table and stuffed their fat faces, quite embarrassing.
We ended up staying for an hour and I proceeded to dive off the top and swam back to our lil boat a few KMs away. Along the way these old white ladies were paddle boarding and started taking pictures of me, turned out they thought I was a seal swimming about, made for some good laughs, the old gal extended an invite for cocktails on her boat, which I didn't partake in, felt a little cuckholdy.
I love the idea of owning a yacht. I just want that 40+foot leopard catamaran
What I don't like are the people you have to deal with when it comes to yacht ownership. Fellow yacht owners are typically more insufferable than 991/2 Porsche owners
the whole industry is out to screw you. You want new zinc tablets for your hull? that's 1k, you want your annual hull cleaning done? that's 10k. You want your sails rejigged? 5-10k
everything is measured in thousands of dollars. Its ridiculous. Even the fuel cost to get from Vancouver to Seattle on a 40ft Marquis yacht is something like 1500 dollars! wtf....

We had a few boats yell out (Americans) "You can't be here!", "Don't tie up!", "We got here first!", as we were approaching looking for a spot to stern tie to a tree.
I had to argue with this old bastard until he shut up, choose a tree bud, I'll take any other, there's no shortage of space here.
It was an extremely awkward arrival, but they softened up a bit after the 1st day.
