I had no idea the kind of party these old whites throw out there on the long weekend every year, they bring a barge out and have this Havana themed party, everyone dressed in Tiki stuff, fedoras, tons of American boats, not a single minority in sight

It felt very Bohemian Grove.

We got invited to this massive yacht for happy hour and fuck it was weird, I showed up shirtless and soaking wet from swimming about for a few hours, the weird looks we got when we boarded was hilarious. The 2 hookers with us proceeded straight to the Charcuterie table and stuffed their fat faces, quite embarrassing.

We ended up staying for an hour and I proceeded to dive off the top and swam back to our lil boat a few KMs away. Along the way these old white ladies were paddle boarding and started taking pictures of me, turned out they thought I was a seal swimming about, made for some good laughs, the old gal extended an invite for cocktails on her boat, which I didn't partake in, felt a little cuckholdy.

Great weekend.
Hah.. you might have run into some of my friends up there in Desolation.

We used to go always go to the “Christmas in July” boat parties

Have spent quite a bit of time up there, been going to Savary for the last 25+ years. Desolation is one of the greatest places I’ve ever been. Wish I could ball on some day cruiser etc. and spend extended time up there

^Man that would've been amazing, 3 days out there was great though.

I'm surprised how warm the water is in those fjords, could swim for hours with the seals, felt like lake water.

What I don't like are the people you have to deal with when it comes to yacht ownership. Fellow yacht owners are typically more insufferable than 991/2 Porsche owners

the whole industry is out to screw you. You want new zinc tablets for your hull? that's 1k, you want your annual hull cleaning done? that's 10k. You want your sails rejigged? 5-10k

everything is measured in thousands of dollars. Its ridiculous. Even the fuel cost to get from Vancouver to Seattle on a 40ft Marquis yacht is something like 1500 dollars! wtf....
Everyone wants a cut off of the rich people.

That's why they say the two happiest days of a boaters life is when you buy the boat and sell the boat.

I always wonder why the rich people always gets sued, I assume with that much money you can just "buy" them or at least shut them up. Like can't Donald Trump afford more than $130k to shut up the hooker. What happens in international waters stays in international waters. Just like that ocean gate thing.

so this sucker in hong kong needs 2 captains, a crew of 6 and it costs something like 23,000cad to fill up.

don't ask about the moorage fees, I cant even comprehend how much a yacht slip costs in hong kong.

couldn't even pull up to the slip in Stanely, too shallow. Needed that garbage tender to come pickup

you can tell it super chinesey because there is no on-deck space for sun tanning (wtf is that?)

Yachts like that are typically plan built instead of bespoke designs.

Pump out a handful at once. A buddy used to build similar albeit older boats in Richmond for American clients.

I heard China boats are much cheaper, I talked to a guy saying he bought a 40? 50? Foot boat from China for like $100k and it would cost like $400 if he bought it here.

All this boat talk and this is what shows up on my marketplace.

If I had $1.5M USD, I don't think I would buy a boat this dated...

Yah two chairs…. For lawls. This boat has 8 staterooms. It can accommodate 25 guests

Those chairs are horribly uncomfortable too. Like mediaeval torture devices.

Taiwan is actually quite big when it comes to yachts. But even the smallest pacific-crossing capable ship would run you a cool 4-5M for a decent spec'd class A.

It'd only make sense if someone can integrate it into their portfolio as tax reduction.

Anything sub-1M and brand new? That's going to be quite barebone if it's actually capable of crossing the pacific.

Just dip into your HELOC and you'll be able to get a yacht too.

no man, no. For a sailing yacht (which most cruisers use) there are a ton of choices below 1 mil. These are the ones I've been eyeballing.

Its a relatively affordable purchase price, it has huge space for me and ocean spy balloon and its blue water certified.

like in all seriousness, its the price of a Ferrari. I cheaped out on not getting that stupid Roma, I might as well buy a nice boat later when I retire and YOLO The fuck outta here.

I even got the boat name picked out.

BIG HOBZ

the little tender will be Little Hobz

(too poor to pay for a real bunker burning boat, thus I choose to sail cuz its free)
