I think the jobs aren't the ones that you want, probably Amazon delivery drivers, cashier at singhortons, probably also seasonal due to Christmas bump.
The job sector has definitely changed 100%. In the past I've had no problem gaining interest when I post for openings where I work. Generally applicants in the hundreds and after pre screen, skills testing, and 1st interviews I'm usually left with about 40 who make it to the end and I can get 8-10 people or 1 hired out of 3/4 interviews. Since COVID that number has gone down yearly considerably the number of applicants have gone from a few hundred to barely 100 and in the end I'm barely able to get 4 or 5 people. Gig ain't bad, Government job just over $30/hr to start but no work from home, at least not right off the bat. I think that pretty much kills it right there.
It might be different because I'm in tech but it seems like there are so many people looking for jobs, it's insane. So many big organizations doing layoffs and "re-org's", so I do find it surprising that you aren't getting as many candidates as before.
I've seen tech jobs gets hundreds of resumes within a few hours of being posted on LinkedIn. I still think there's a huge supply of laid off workers vs. demand, but very strange for your postings.
The trick is to work for a international company without an office in Vancouver (but you also aren't getting FAANG salaries) if you want remote.
Tech is probably of the only industry doing extremely poorly at the moment I think. The other is probably retail.
The effective breaking of the TFW train might make a difference. We haven't gone shopping in a long time and went for the first time this week cause we managed to shed the kids. Walked into RW&Co and it was Indian TFWs the whole way. Metrotown lost a few pretty prominent stores.
With Trump coming in and "being tough" on immigration, we'll see what happens in the states as well. Tech is driven a lot by visa workers in the states, and if those don't get renewed we might see a surge in replacement hiring.
A couple weeks ago President Elon and another Trump lackey Vivek Rama-smarmy had a whole controversy when said he was in favour of H1Bs visas - implication that Americans were lazy, Indians not. I don't think Trump is gives a shit either way but he knows who his masters are.
Of course days later he pulls the "let's invade Canada and Greenland" schtick conveniently out of nowhere to divert attention.
Vote in conservative billionaires under the pretense of putting "Americans first", win and immediately pivot to the predicable support of importing cheap labor from abroad.

It was truly mind boggling seeing the yearly numbers drop so hard. At first I was like ok we're still in the pandemic, people are scared to work in the office, some have opted to go back to school, some stopped working all together and moved back home perhaps etc This will pass then year after year it didn't change. To make things even worse if it wasn't already bad enough the quality of applicants overall were worse than before. Another thing I've noticed in the last 4-5 years is we've been seeing a lot more ghosting. I'm not even talking about ghosting after an application I'm talking about they've applied, exchange emails with us and spent the time to come in person to do a 90 min test, then ghost us.

Are you from Rand McNally? Where hamburgers eat people and you wear hats on your feet?
Because you're describing exactly what employers are doing to applicants these days.

Nothing to see here folks, nothing to see here.
Ramaswampy is a perfect example of what happens when an Indian scammer goes completely unchecked.
But because of his wealth and admittedly, his mic skills, he won't ever be held to the ceremonial fire. Developed a failed Alzheimer's drug with apparent intentions to pump and dump the stock.
An absolute ghee covered swamp creature that Trump supposedly didn't want in his political sphere in 2016. Look where we are now
If those are laminate or even engineered that isn’t even installed to spec, typically need min 6” separation between joints
If it’s those hardwood looking tiles it would be ok, but if that shit ever got water damaged etc. you’d likely end up pulling up the majority of the floor

We are renewing at the end of the month and here's what we're looking at right now. TD or Coast Capital.
3 YEAR FIXED
4.39% (both))
I remortgaged with TD for Oct.1 of this year and got 4.34% (3yr fixed), and there's been a 1% BOC rate cut since then (4.25% when I signed, 3.25% now).
