you are right on many aspects here. canada is a great place, but it's not the only great place.

As for Europe's economy, don't be so quick to judge based on the headlines. For educated people, especially in finance (like myself), the opportunities are abundant and way greater than in Canada (and even in the US for myself, or so I found). Also, Germany (which admittidly is the economic engine of Europe) has full employment - they are having issues filling positions, yet you won't hear that in the news that much around the world (and why would you)

also, on the economy front, for unemployed it is so socialist here that they have amazing benefits (something I personally hate), but it has been explained to me why this system works so well for society on the whole, and you do start to see the benefits to it... don't get me wrong, I pay a top marginal tax rate >50%, which is sickening, but life is very harmonious (until a jihadi goes on a lone wolf crazy attack, *knock wood*)

There are HUGE groups of Asians in many cities (especially business cities) throughout Europe. Dusseldorf has one of the largest Japanese communities outside of Japan, Amsterdam has a huge Japanese expact community (>5,000), on top of that a large indian, american, chinese, etc. group of expats / immigrants - difference is, they integrate.

the best place, if you're worried about xenophobia, is london, by far the most multicultural major city in Europe, and huge career opportunities, only downside is you have to live in london (personal opinion) and the cost of living is high, but for a short time, it'd be great for your life (career, cultural, experience, etc.) - plus there are special tax rules if u are on a <2 year temporary placement which makes things a LOT better.

A huge problem with north americans is they read the headline news and conclude that's how life is. What is written about Europe and real life is totally different. From a lifestyle perspective, life is easier here than it was in Vancouver for me, but that's just a personal anecdote

As bad as this sounds, I still have to agree with this guy. I can't say that all millionaires from China are corrupt and just trying to park their money here. Some really just want a better living environment for their family and relatively speaking, Vancouver is still quite cheap compared to other great cities especially with the CAD and interest rates tanking.
