As a matter of fact the rod had come off on it's own the first day I had moved in and heard a bang coming from the washroom. I had tried filling in the nick prior to moving out to the best of my ability. It's clear that he wanted it back to as of new condition. This was a brand new unit and everything else in the unit was returned back in original condition. I'm respectful of how I use my space and had explained to him about the tub. Any idea as to what I can do to move forward with this as we dont see eye to eye? Thanks
Your landlord can't hold your deposit. He has to give it back within 15 days of you moving. If he wants to claim damage he has to take you to arbitration.

BC Landlord and Tenant Resources - Damage Deposit

Quote:
Unless the Landlord has the tenant's written consent to keep all or part of a deposit or has an outstanding dispute resolution officer's order that can be applied against the deposit, the Landlord must return the deposit plus interest within 15 days after the tenancy ends, or apply for dispute resolution with the Residential Tenancy Branch to make a claim against the deposit. The 15 day period commences when the tenancy ends or the Tenant provides a forwarding address in writing, whichever is later.
Tell him you are going to take him to arbitration if he does not pay you back. Did you do a condition report before you moved in?

How else would the BC liberals have "balanced" the budget. You cant be mad about that!
Oh they could also funnel all of the money out of ICBC when the taxes on laundered money didn't cover it I guess.

This.

People in this Province would be shocked if they knew the collaboration between government and organized crime in this Province. It's a dirty little secret about BC that very few seem to be aware of, which I find quite odd.

I have known of this money laundering in the real estate industry, private business, and the casinos for quite some time based on my industry of work, and networked connections.

What I find angering and frustrating is why are news organizations finally reporting on this now? We all knew where the Fentanyl was coming from, I have posted on this forum for years now discussing the coordination of the Chinese government and their complicity in undermining the Western world through the import of these opioids.

We have listened to this crisis in Vancouver for years now, but very few news organizations want to highlight the culprits of this actual problem. It's extremely frustrating, people here need to understand we have a very corrupt government that has created this situation through greed, and have allowed this continued operation of this problem.

I really wish residents in this city were more engaged in what's going on here, and held our politicians to the fire as a result.

somehow people are not okay with the gov't serving addicts and would much rather have criminals do it

And that's one of the reasons why it's ignored. Most of us born here in BC have a cousin, an uncle, family friend, immediate family, or a close friend who owns a business that is affiliated or associated with organized crime. So it's far easier to give a pass to those closest to us, where as the Chinese are much easier to look at as a monolith, as the "they".

One potential reason / explanation is the general souring of relationships between Western countries and China. In the past and esp with the US, their attitude towards China is one of engagement. They hope that by cultivating a good relationship with China, positive change can be brought forth. People who are familiar with China, and in particular, with the Communist Party, have always known that this is stupid and naive thinking.

Now that the Western World -- led by US in some ways -- have changed their tactics towards China to be one that is generally not lenient on international issues, the press is certainly taking notice of the change and are fanning the flames.

HA operate in all corners of North America and beyond. Not that it's a good thing. But they aren't the anomaly to our rapid inflation.

HA gets a pass here because they brought everyone coke back when it was still at least 30% coke instead of fentanyl, meth and baby laxative.

Considering Vancouver alone sold almost $14B worth in 2016, $1B isn't a whole lot. It's less than 10%. Compared to the $77B sold in BC, $1B is a drop in the bucket.

8% of 14 billion dollars is a fucking lot of illegal funds. I’m not sure how you are trying to rationalize that it isn’t.

Lol the west was being stupid from the get go. I am sure most people here are Asians and we know well enough how China works lol. Is too late now. Just look at how much influence China/Chinese have over everything in Canada.

Been going to the Price Mart attached to station square there now for lunch a few times, I’ve been the only non-Asian person in the entire store (including staff) the last 3 times I’ve been in there.

In 5 years we’ll be arguing over 100% Chinese signs for businesses surrounding metro.

I used to go there a lot. In the mornings is mostly C-lais there. But their breakfast is better than T&T!

There are a ton of apartments going up and mostly purchase by Chinese some for profit (my cousin bought a few units but sold this earlier this year). I doubt people can get much profit from selling now due to the new policy starting next year.

That's because Pricesmart is Overwaitea's competition for Loblaw's T&T. They're both competing for the Chinese market, but it seems that it isn't doing so well, because T&T is always busy no matter what time you go, but Pricesmart is kind of slow even at times you'd think it would be busy.
