Anyways, my post was not meant to be "oh hey look at me" although I can see how that may have come out, but it was just a real world example of how a lot of properties make MUCH more sense to rent than to buy.

But with that said... the math looks very different on other units. In the same building as my 2BR, 1BR units on a decent floor with a decent view rent for around $1700/month. You can buy these units for around $390k, so the math of these units looks much better... You put $80k down, your mortgage payment is around $1300, and by the time you pay strata and property taxes, your total bill is around $1850. This unit only needs to appreciate 2.25% per year to break even, where as the 2BR unit I live in needs to go up in price almost 3 times as much!

who cares about 30k cc debt that's kind of good considering i didn't need income to back it up its under my name and my parents helped me pay it off already. and im gonna get a m6 in a year or 2

and me and my parents even get gov't cheques because i don't really work and my parents hardly pay taxes on their income bc its a business. So from not paying taxes alone you save like 200k per year

How do we let people like you slip through the cracks?

Do society a favour. Please don't reproduce.

I have nothing to add to the original topic but I was genuinely interested until now lol. I'm just hoping the condos in BBY get completed in the next couple years and suddenly theres more supply than demand.

lowside67 10-11-2012 07:08 PM

I've been watching Brentwood a bit as I lived there for awhile, between Vantage, Solo, and Aviara, plus Affiniti and Perspectives having just been completed, this area is going to have a LOT of supply. Solo is *4* towers, 2 of which are 46 floors!!! With that said, the area is also improving dramatically and there will be more reason to live here - Solo alone will have a Whole foods anchoring it and some great small coffee shops, etc. plus a large office component. They are also talking about redoing Brentwood mall in the next few years which would have a big effect on the area.

im a good guy but when it comes to managing money i just didn't know how to use it. My parents are good savers but when it came to gambling my mother was somewhat addicted to it back then and i followed that path somehow

i was 19 or so when i started i would've concentrated alot more into school if i hadn't gotten into it

you need to read "rich dad poor dad" brother. businesses get to deduct taxes like most do even when you lease a car its tax deductable

since when are you happy when the gov't takes a portion of your cheque to taxes and excited when you get a return?

I have a book ready to release, in the process of casting for my vignette. Filming it at my own studio.

You do realize that there was a lot of complaints about the content and examples used in that book, and the author's company filed for bankruptcy this past August.

Rich Dad Poor Dad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The only reason the book semi did well was because of cows like Oprah Winfrey endorsed it, but she also endorses anything that will pay her to (imo)

Hondaracer 10-12-2012 07:02 AM

Also "rich dad's" company just filed for bankruptcy..

im not saying don't blow money if you wanna have fun but for example lets say you make 3200 month paying 2k a month in rent with nothing to live on every month and call that getting ahead.

to me it doesn't show what social class you're trying to prove but to fake rich when you're not

i can see if you make 50k per month blowing money is no big deal but if you're a regular guy making 5k broke every month blowing money on cars and vacations who the hell are you fooling?

What is "getting ahead"?

I have a ton of fun, I live in an art gallery that I designed from scratch, I wrote a book and a half, I've had incredible parties and met some amazing people. My friend won a contest and had Morgan Spurlock present his "Greatest movie ever sold" screening here, haha, try doing that at home.

I'm not fake rich, I don't pretend to be. I know chinese fucking geeks are sitting on millions of their parent's wealth, but does that buy them an ounce of cool or status beyond their own social circles? So you have a GTR and live in a mansion in Richmond, take that away and you're just another hollow person with no style, no attitude, no creativity, no street smarts, and no opinions.

I live for the moment and I regret nothing, I could die tomorrow and it would be with a smile on my face for living how I've lived. If I was in Surrey, scrimping and saving up every penny I made, I might be sitting on a million bucks by now, but would I have a shred of the personality, experiences, or life I've lived? I certainly would have 0 material for the books I've been writing.

I know the owner of YouJizz is good with money, he's the cheapest fuck you'd ever meet. He has absolutely 0 personality and has nothing interesting, funny, or unique to talk about other than money. Every woman I've seen in his life is strictly there for the cash.

Maybe if you didn't have a bunch of daddy's money to sit on, you'd be forced to live and explore who you are a little more than just hitting the blackjack table.

Shit, financially I'm not doing so bad, but in so many other areas in life, I'm rich as fuck.

It's not about fooling anyone, it's about taking X dollars per month and building a wicked life around it.

You could be sitting on 100 million dollars, but if you do nothing with that money but count it and hang out with your friends who are only these for the cash, so what?

You could be broke as fuck waiting for your next cheque, but if your friends are always happy to see you, your life brings you great joy, and you're eager to life every day, who's really winning?

It's never about what you have, but what you do with it

Who's life is more interesting, yours, or his?

Tyson has been around the world, driven the sweetest cars, banged the hottest chicks, hung out with countless celebrities, and been the heavyweight champ of the world

How's mom's basement?

I rest my case

Devil's advocate. If this was all true, then why'd he have to rape a girl to get sex. :ahwow:

Probably the entitlement one gets from being world champ, and being used to getting anything you want, at any time

I sell porn on the internet and I barely work to make the decent income I have, I'm more focused on getting my writing career going so I can do something I love and just happen to get paid for it. Oh, and film erotica in the studio I designed for it.

What dream life do you have for yourself?

I know I want to live on a houseboat with a bunch of corgi dogs and a beautiful woman. I want to afford this studio still and move other artists into it periodically to help them develop their aesthetic tastes and see what they can create in my place. I don't care if I have to write a book or two a year to support this, I know I'll be able to do so now that I have a vast range of experiences and knowledge to draw from.

Part of why I enjoy living the feast/famine lifestyle is because the highs of mania allows me to reach euphoric states you cannot even comprehend, while the depression provides introspection on what fulfills me and brings me true happiness.

Scrimping and saving, living moderately in Surrey with a plain girlfriend and a shitty Mustang would be the very pinnacle of normality, and utterly fucking boring.

I wouldn't want to sell porn forever, it reduces my humanity for sure.

However,
It's not work if you love it, and I love to write.
