Yea, there’s two of us and we do a full load almost daily.
Bought some really nice steak knives and they said “try not to DW” yea right. I’m the same, if it can’t go in the dishwasher, don’t buy it

With my son now eating solids having his damn utensils/silicone dishes extra Tupperware to pack his snacks and food when we go out there's days it's 2 loads. My buddy in his house had to get one of those portables to keep up with dirty dishes running both DW daily. He's got 2 girls and his MIL and the aunt. No way he's hand washing either

"House" was $168K, assuming she paid 5% down ($8400) she'd have to borrow $159,600 plus CHMC mortgage insurance.
At 1.5% interest, that is $663.47
There just seems to be more to the story than is being told by the article.
I mean, if interest rates jump up to 2.5%, would she be able to afford it? That bumps up her payments to $743.55 per month.

Wife and I always argue about the dishwasher, I look at it like the procrastinating device. You load them in there, turn it on then likely the next day you have to put them away.
I can quickly wash the dinner dishes and put them away in 5 minutes and I don't have to worry about it tomorrow. My wife is like everything goes in the dishwasher.
I mean it's not that serious but I just prefer to wash by hand even though I bought her a very nice dishwasher last year. Now when she leaves clean dishes in the sink to "Dry" well I swear she only does that to trigger me, haha.

LOL they don't even have a stove? Two induction portable cooktops. what on earth??? | That street is a couple blocks from me. It is interesting that the majority of houses on Ringwood are over 100 years old, but all the surrounding streets are seeing tons of redevelopment. It is like a blast from the past - even doesn't have paved street parking I believe. Fraser Street between 16th and 33rd is one of the hottest areas of Vancouver though - it doesn't surprise me that a shitty house with no stove sells for over asking. The neighbourhood is amazing.

Now we have to be all fucking forced "energy efficiency", so can't have that feature anymore.

2725 E. 48th Avenue
4800sf lot just sold for $2m, it was bought last Feb for $1.6m - 11 months and they grossed $400k (25%) just like that. Probably netted out between 250-300k after all expenses.

My house is on a slightly bigger lot, built in 1911. Ours is 2400 sq ft though 3 bed 1 bath main with 1 bed 1 bath suite. Our neighbours house is identicle but ours is wayyy nicer renovated and a way nicer suite, two diff realtors told my neighbour he’d get 2 all day because 3 bed main + suite is hard to come buy with a “value” lot lol..
Where do you guys see the listing photos? I want to see what the inside looks like

Where do you guys see the listing photos? I want to see what the inside looks like | For sold properties, make an account on zealty.ca and filter map by SOLD/months which allows you to see previous listing/asking/sold price, property assessments and previous listing photos
Most sites take down photos and data after a property is sold but having an account on zealty allows you access to a ton of hidden information not shared with normal people. I've been on their site long enough to know that I'm effed as I've been trying to find a place for 2 years now.

Even though mortgages are set up for 25 or 30 years, most people pay it down and finish before then. Generally a person or household income goes up and they can pay down capital every year or so to shrink it to 15-20 years. That's how real life works ... mostly.

I think land values are up 50% in the last 2 years, regardless of whatever is sitting on the land. I remember shopping for unrenovated Van specials in q4 2019 and they were 1.3-1.4m. That same house is now 1.8-2.0…

Sure, some are built by shit EI builders but some of them are pretty solid places. No strata fee, brand new build, better amenities, a garage (not that it'll be usable). Why pay 1.8m for a 2300sf lot and a 112 year old house when you can get a new duplex instead for less?
