May stats showing sales 13% below 10 yr average, compared to 25% above 10 yr average in March. Interest rates are a helluva drug

It’s usually sheets of hardi that look like shakes

I like Craftsman the most, but I guess they're not popular on smaller Vancouver lots since it's less space-efficient than a flat-roof square house.

A craftsman style house like this is right up my alley - it's easy to look at and feels inviting IMO.

As per someone’s previous post, I also am huge on big decks (yea ya read that right lol)

I’d probably sacrifice interior space for a exterior deck on the front

68style 06-02-2022 10:21 AM

How do you feel about big back decks?

Intresting, it looks like they & neighbours drew their own parking stall lines:

I'm just stirring the pot, was moreso a joke vs all the comments above complaining about strange house design, ugly this, wrong color that, flat roof first world problems etc

I live in a 500sqft condo, and I'm extremely grateful I'm not 90% of the global population that lives in poverty

That's hilarious, I guess it's less ugly than a white bucket or garbage bin.

It doesn't look as appealing now that I see it in context with the street and other houses, but I'd take it over a similarly-priced house in East Vancouver (if I could afford it :okay:)

I'm looking at potentially going halfsies or thirds with some friends on a rental property.

Looking at Kelowna Condos/houses that have Airbnb or Houses in AB / DT condos.

Seems to be a few that are cash flow positive, or will be in a 5 years.

Anyone here with property out east?

I love the big back decks!

Not sure about Kelowna but prices are same as here, who's gonna manage the air BnB. From what I've heard, ab has low rent. Low capital appreciation. Higher housing costs due to the weather. Same thing who's gonna manage the BnB. Also from the cheaper houses I've looked at $500k and under it doesn't seem like they build like us to have multiple family. So you have to rent the whole house out, can't really do a upper plus basement thing.

Not a perfect example but I'm into this style of look for a house:

https://assets-listings.rew.ca/brc_i....1&w=560&dpr=2

Pointy roof, black on white, the wood shingle style.

PeanutButter 06-02-2022 01:41 PM

My pet peeve are houses with small front doors.
The blue door above might just be the angle of the picture, but that door looks small.

Knowing myself I'll definitely hit my head using that toilet at night lol

JDMDreams 06-02-2022 01:59 PM

Man that house sure doesn't make me feel like I can afford a 4 million house. :heckno:

Alpine 06-02-2022 02:08 PM

$4m??? Damn!! revscene has come far from the $14 balla days. Well done all.

Big doors, big decks :concentrate:

I love a nice set of evenly hung curtains myself

I'm certain that's a 36" wide door so it's just the photo - I also have a 36" door on a house that's a similar style and from the street it looks small (mine is black too).

Of course I'd prefer a double door but for a single, a 36" works fine though taller is always cool.

For 4 m I want something more grand like this.

Gumby 06-02-2022 03:44 PM

Hmm, with all those skylights, the top floor of that $4M house on King Ed will be hard to keep cool in the summer...

Agreed. In contrast to Vancouver, that neighborhood is all giant Craftsman houses with land so big I'll need a megaphone to yell at the kids to get off my lawn
