Tad bit racist but true. Other half of the kids will pull up their socks and become doctors and lawyers.
I dont think brown people are beating their kids anymore. Kinda like everyone else nowadays and thus our Asian specialty card trait is disappearing (i dont condone physical abuse, but it sure as fuck worked on our generation).
Ive never had a bunch of elementary school kids mouth me off before, but that's what happened a few weeks back. I was walking to save on foods terra nova, it was already dark, i b line through the elementary school and these brown kids (must have been grade 6-7) started yelling HEY FAGGOT, come suck our dicks. I just started laughing because they were so young and it sounded like their balls hasn't even dropped yet. As i walked closer to the group, i guess they werent as brave because they didn't say anything. I just smiled at them and kept on walking.
Silly kids, objects in your shitty eyesight might be larger than they appear.

Lol, Langford just kicked Stew Young to the curb after 30 years as mayor in this recent election. Was a massive upset. The new mayor doesn't even live in Langford.
Turns out, people in langford are not so happy with his indiscriminate development anymore.

I love how the folks professing about "you can live in a basement with 5 dudes, and after 10 years buy a condo in Abby" are the same ones who are sitting financially pretty off of their parent's money, Manic I like you man, but you know that's you.
To anyone who thinks that's realistic, I ask if you ever did that yourself, or are you simply suggesting that out of position of privilege -- " Do as I say not as I do".
Any goal within a country is to leave the next generation in a better position than that of the prior. Immigrant families and Canadian-born folks in our parent's generation were able to buy a house, raise a family on a single household income, and here some are suggesting to shack up with 5 dudes in a basement slumdog style in order to buy a 400 sqft shitbox in Abby?
This is progress? A proverbial race to the bottom so that we can live as those in a 3rd world country? What a future |

My neighbour are 4 indian peeps living in a 532 sqft 1br with no balcony and 3 windows lol.
It's rough, I peeped inside once cause they left the door open and they face the elevator. The living room is just a large mat in which I presume 2 people are sleeping in.
I don't think any of us have lived in those situations

^Should report them to Strata that has to be a fire code violation of some sort or at the very least a violation of strata bylaws.

4 dudes keeping to themselves in a tiny place isn’t going to flood my home because the “toilet is overworked” lol.
These are real people. I’m not using them to further an argument about housing.

Have you ever seen a homeless East Indian guy on the streets? They're more rare than a homeless Asian guy. They'll just move from one flop house to another or just go back.

Not trying to sound like a dick at all, but way back when I was in university, my dorm room was maybe something like a 8'x15' space where there was a bed, a dresser, a desk, a closet, and a sink. There was a window, but it doesn't open that much. Between my bed and the dresser, there was maybe 2' worth of space?
I lived there for a year. It was OK. If it wasn't for me getting tired of eating dorm food all the time, I could potentially see myself living there for the duration of my whole degree.
Obviously I wouldn't want to live in that kind of condition forever, but my point is, when you are chasing a certain goal at a certain point of time in your life, accommodations like that are OK. You do what you have to do to make it work.
Of course I agree with mikemhg that as a society, we should strive to leave the next generation in a better place than we are in right now, and at least for the past 15+ years, we have not been doing that. Quote:

This is progress? A proverbial race to the bottom so that we can live as those in a 3rd world country? What a future | I may be well off but I also just don't sit on my ass all day.; I have gone for months without having a day off. I am also not an immigrant. My parents lived with 5-7 other people in one room when they where in England. This is nothing new. Does not matter what background you are. Irish, Italian, german same shit just a different time.
Immigrants make a deal. They get to move from a poor country to one of the best countries in the world. In exchange they have to work there asses off for a number of years.
Does not seem like a bad deal to me. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...e0_Br-KbK8w0GU https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxXJ8u_pZ...E0bZ4MS-EgIM7p https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxUucv_VG...R-rW00UYqFlwTs
People sharing a bed. Some people worked 12 hour shifts so one would work for 12 hours while the other would sleep and then switch.

Hard work does nothing. Smart work gets you where you want to be.
The immigrant with 5 houses has little to offer the world. What he has is labour. He works his ass off and puts his money where it can be used in a smart way. What’s the other option? Rent an apartment and be broke? Labour job is never going to offer a lavish lifestyle. May as well be broke with a house or 5.
Personally I try to work as little as possible, but at least I try and make it work for me. Lol.

These are real people. I’m not using them to further an argument about housing. | When I was 5 my parents help my mom's side of the family immigrate here so for a while it was 10 people in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath rancher (maybe 1500sf?). It was mom/dad in the master, grandparents in the 2nd bedroom, 2 uncles in the living room sofa bed and myself, my brother and my 2 aunts in the 3rd room. I think we did that for 3-5 years while the aunts and uncles finished high school.
I'm glad no one reported us for being some kind of flop house (that's the house from 2014 below):

Lol. Ya'll are tripping.
While it isn't my home, I spend 20-25 days out of each month in a camp room that is 8' by 10'. Has a tiny twin size bed in it, a small desk and a stand up dresser. No TV, no fuck all. I walk down the hall 60' to share 6 bathrooms with the other 50 people that live in this wing of our camp.
I've stayed in exploration camps, where 4 guys share one 12'x12' tent with 2 bunks in it, for 45+ days at a time.
You're usually well compensated for it, but its a trade off. The exact same tradeoff that someone in town could make in order to save a few bucks on accommodation cost. Quote:

| As for this brilliant gem. Nice try bud, the last 2 generations have been selling this generation down a fucking river with their policies and spending, and environmental neglect. Yea they probably have 20 buddy guys living in 500sq if they were back home so 4 to 500sq is nothing. Have you seen apartments in Asia? 295sq probably costs more than your one bed here so they living it up already.

Since when did it become a foreign concept that hard work/sacrifice will achieve results? Its hard in the beginning then things become easier provided you keep progressing and learning. Applies to playing guitar, getting in shape, earning income etc.
I grew up in Canada and subscribed to the go to school, work 40 hours a week and things will be fine. I was miserable and living in an apartment near lougheed mall with a cardboard room that I made to save on rent. I could have blamed politicians or complained on revscene. Instead I spent days reading bcsportbikes and the 780 tuners forum from edmonton. I found 2 threads that posted step by step how to make 100k+. I dropped out of mechanical engineering, sold my possessions, loaded up my george foreman grill and headed to Alberta.
I moved into a slum because it was cheap and there was a guy from india living there. He was filthy. I spent 2 years there. I worked and read books and ate the same thing everyday because I was away at work for 16+ hours a day so meal prepping was the only way. Because I was working so much, all I did was save money. Cut my own hair, lost 70lbs. Its not a lifestyle I would want to live forever but it was only 2 years and I can say it has shaved at least 15 years off my working career (financially not physically) and was able to purchase multiple properties with those savings.
I have thought housing was out of control since approx 2008 and would be ahead by renting. But things changed when I started studying successful people and getting different viewpoints. I have accepted I was wrong about housing back then. Its still very unfortunate how things are for young people these days but its unlikely for it to change due to exponential population growth and the extreme red tape in building codes.
There are a few bitter people on this site in regards to wealth. What helped me was a mindset shift from hating on them to "what can I learn from this person?" I always see the term greed when it comes to wealth. Are fat people also greedy? They are eating more food than they need while others go hungry.

When my Grandparents brought my mom and 8 siblings to Canada in 1962, they all lived in a 3 bed, 1bath 1000sqft house. Richmond was the boonies back then, their property was basically a farm. They owned the half block adjacent to the south side of Francis, between #3 and Garden city (Basically the land where Rideau school school sits now)

It's the classic dilemma: In order to know how good you are at something, requires the exact same skill to actually be good at that thing in the first place.
Now flip that around: If you are absolutely no good at something, you lack exactly the skills required to know you are absolutely no good at it.

its not a either or correlation between luck and hard work. I know some dudes who've worked their asses off and still havent achieved half the success of these "made it" guys. While half of these "made it" guys were just lucky, or born into it, or had the right connection and was at the right place at the right time.
But either way, you need to work hard as if you dont, you'll end up with nothing 100% of the time. Dont expect shit to fall out of the sky. If you get lucky, you get lucky. If not, then whatever at least you tried. Make your own luck.

No one's dismissing each others' families' hard work and sacrifices. Things are not mutually exclusive. It's not either or.
This thread (and maybe even the forum) is a great example of survivorship bias.
