I still dunno WTF the difference between a lane way and coach house is. But yea that's crazy $2.3 to live on top of a garage. You must really really want to be there.

Would way rather have this place in the $3M range with a roundabout driveway and a double tandem garage https://www.zealty.ca/mls-R2989528/7...-Coquitlam-BC/ |

Here's the reality. Once you reach mid 30s, nobody comes to see you no matter where you live!
North Shore, Surrey, downtown, Richmond, no friends will travel unless it's within walking distance.
We only ever see our neighbours now lol.

I can see why most of RS are a grumpy bunch. Seeing your friends regularly is good for your mental health. I try to see my friends from elementary/high school/uni at least every 2 weeks if not weekly and we’re all scattered around East Van, Coquitlam, Richmond

I'm happy to see my closest circle every couple months and chat is where it's at for a lot of us. Even then some of them are just too busy to actively participate.
I have friends who I consider near and dear and who live not far from me who I only see every couple years.

Or even if you don’t have kids but you hate people so you just walk your chihuahua and take photographs of forest puppies and stupid ass birds.

That's why you don't have kids.
I'm able to see my friends almost every week, we're going to the Nelly concert this Thursday, just got back from a trip to Colombia with some buds as well last month (which albeit is harder to organize nowadays at our ages).
DINK life is the best life.

If you live a few blocks away from friends and only see them a few times every other year because of the kids, that’s a pretty poor excuse lol.
We go out all the time to visit friends but I would never go see my friends in Surrey etc. on a week night because a drive with no traffic on a Saturday or Sunday that takes me 20 minutes door to door could take 90+ after work

It's all relative to where your friends are. I have a buddy who lives downtown that I've known for over 30 years, I might see him once a year because commuting downtown fucking sucks.
Once you have a kid you start hanging out with your friends that also have kids anyways, you're living way different lives than people who don't.

Ever notice how it's impossible for some people without kids (PWKs) to point out to parents "SEE THAT'S WHY NOT HAVING KIDS IS WAY BETTER"
As soon as someome makes a comment like "it's not as easy to do XYZ once you have kids" the PWKs immediately scream validation for their decision.
FYI to the PWKs -- Having kids isn't 100% a chore that deprives you of life enjoyment. The tradeoffs of not being able to do things as easy are balanced with the joy and love of having a family.
If not having a family is your jam, no judgment. But why must you always call out people who have kids by implying they made some kind of mistake??

No doubt. Well said.
I'd far rather now spend time with my kid than with my kidless friends. Raising a little human in your image is incredibly satisfying.
