I'll be playing around with the new Metallics dip all weekend, also got some people who are paying me to do wheels for them :fullofwin:

I don't know if some of you guys are aware, but there's been great progress with the dipping scene. People have already tested out pigment powders, pearls and everything on dip and it's wonderful

Vinyl wrapping is yesterday's news - dipping is going to be the norm soon enough

that copper is sexy...

question...if your car has some dimples and dings, does it get covered up by dipping it?

The copper has pigments/flakes which I'd like to figure out how to do as well - looks MUCH like the copper metallizer which is available in cans imo

Yes, dip can cover light dings and scratches

Dip also covers road rash on wheels pretty well to an extent

JesseBlue 06-21-2013 08:43 PM

thats great to hear...my car has plenty of dings...hehe

Wait wait wait. Hold on guys.

If you spray plasti dip with the glossifiers and metalizers and stuff, can it still be peeled off just like regular plastidip?

Yes, it's fine

Just don't be spraying metallizers and other enhancers on top of a surface that isn't dipped - you'll run into problems

Also don't be spraying anything that isn't made to be compatible with dip - the dip won't peel off when you want it to and will make it permanent

Kaolinite 06-21-2013 11:34 PM

^i.e dont spray paint clear coat over plastidip or else it wont peel off.

320icar 06-22-2013 12:03 AM

Well that's coolio. My brain just assumed the glossifier would make it non peelable. I vinyl wrapped one of my old cars, and from experience and the final outcome, I'd say just order a bunch of cans and dip it (if it's a cheaper car w/ an amateur at the wheel)

^dont wait until tomorrow!
The dip is best pealed 30-40 mins after spray. Any longer it "hardens" and the dip will peal irregularly. You wont be able to get the clean peals.

Nvasion 06-22-2013 11:19 PM

i used the glossifier on my flat black plastidip and turned out super blotchy....

Nvasion 06-23-2013 03:03 PM

ill redo it and see how it looks. i put the bottle in warm water for a bit to warm it up and i shook it slighlty.. prob not enough

Gh0stRider 06-23-2013 03:27 PM

damn, should do this instead of getting rims repainted.

nlo 06-23-2013 05:17 PM

I did a few coats of black then a few coats of silver metallizer and got this dark gun metal ish color

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...f1f1dc822a4e76

As for the valve stems , I just peeled the plastidip off

Mr.Jay 06-23-2013 05:35 PM

Shake extremely well. Temp of the dip is just one factor that comes into play.

dlo 06-23-2013 09:07 PM

srs, not sure when yet, i have no license atm and cant drive LOL and im down for hoi an... yumm the view.. and food

GabAlmighty 06-25-2013 09:28 AM

I definitely did some dipping yesterday in that impresesively muggy weather. The cue cards I was slipping between the tires and rims were "wet" by the time I was done.

Mr.Jay 06-25-2013 12:59 PM

Yellow is hard to keep clean :(
