Put the winters on my wife's stock wheels already because she blew out a tire on the highway..

Now I can buy new wheels in the spring for the summer tires :ilied:

beproud 10-05-2012 06:52 PM

I'm hoping to buy some winter from 1010tires for my slk and drive out to manitoba..... -50 here I come!

Mr.C 10-05-2012 07:14 PM

Living in Winterpeg now, so October 15th (there's a cruise on the 14th). It already snowed once here :(

broken_arrow 10-05-2012 07:16 PM

Wait what? I though you don't need snows in Vancouver?

LP700-4 10-05-2012 07:20 PM

^ You dont legally have to have them, but it might be a good idea with a V10 and RWD eh?

They lied. :ilied:

Winter tires are good for other things than snow. Ice, or slick cold roads, are best handled with winter-compound tires.

dygital 10-06-2012 12:30 AM

Any suggestions for some winter tyres? I have the stock summer tyres on my s4, and don't really know what to get for winter. Googled around and some said blizzaks were good?

westopher 10-06-2012 12:40 AM

Check out the hakkapelllitititiaiaiiisiaiiaaaa R by nokian. They are very well regarded by everyone I have known that runs them (or the other models of the hakkas). Very soft though, so I'd suggest them more if you are doing mountain runs to whistler and baker, maybe not for just rolling around the city. You might want to check the spelling though. I think mine may be off.

AVS_Racing 10-06-2012 12:46 AM

I don't have winter wheels/tires only summer tires :okay:, still thinking if I should buy all seasons or winters :considered:

what V10 do u drive?

extracrunchie 10-06-2012 08:45 AM

general altimax on 17 stock rims, heard good things about the tires.

tried goodyear ultra grip ice, firestone winterforce, bridgestone blizzacks and nokians.

have to say the one I would never buy again is the winterforces even though the treadwear is hella amazing but thats a trade off for grip on ice/snow.

Lol don't worry the snow here is nothing like Toronto. Sometimes it won't snow until Feb, and when it does snow it's nothing tooo bad.

On another note, when do they start salting the roads here?

When it is consistently below 0 then they will salt roads. Also bridges and passes as those tend to ice up at night if the sky is clear.

black ice and no slow plows will rape you

Acura604 10-06-2012 05:35 PM

the altimax were absolutely unstoppable when I had them.. last year, there wasn't much snow in the city to really test out my current blizzak LM60s...but one thing to note, snow tires or whatever, they dont do shiz on ice sometimes.

Depends on what tires, studded would do relatively well, Toyo has something using walnut shells to bite the ice, my Pirellis did alright. Most good winter tires would at least let you stop after some distance instead of playing air hockey with your car on all seasons.

Acura604 10-19-2012 04:50 PM

Reminder.

Temps are dropping to 4-5 degrees C overnight in next few days.

Who has slapped their winters on?

Sky_High 10-19-2012 04:54 PM

I drive a BMW X5 and live in Richmond.

Who the fuck need winter tires??!

snails 10-19-2012 04:55 PM

mine are going on next week, i dont wanna be washing my rims all the time now

Bender Unit 10-19-2012 05:03 PM

Mine already on since the beginning of the rain came last week.
Snow & Winter tires are handling way better in rain, wet, snow weather.

Richmond could actually be the most dangerous city during snow or rain.
Their BMWs all comes with summer tires & they don't care to spend on winter tires.

I know you are :troll:

GabAlmighty 10-19-2012 05:45 PM

Still don't have my winters on, I have not seen a deterioration in my traction.

hirevtuner 10-19-2012 09:55 PM

mid nov is the best time, hoping for a big snow dump

FRStan 10-19-2012 10:07 PM

Just got a set of cheap winter tires, but need some steelies.
Anyone know a place to get cheap 4x114.3 15" steelies?
