I managed to score some light Momo 16" alloys for my Tiguan for $79USD thru Discounttire a few weeks back (I ordered the General Altimax Artics with it as well). Big White, here I come!!!

Saw this on global Interior winter tire warning - News Hour Final - Videos | Global BC
Got this off Ministry of BC's website Frequently Asked Questions
And wonder...what happens if you have a rental car with all seasons going up the Coquihalla ? Does a M+S tag count as "winter " ?
It doesn't affect me because I have winters this year, but last year when my truck got stolen a bunch of us rented a Jeep and drove to Big White...didn't get stopped at any roadblocks, but what if....

That being said, I was passing people on the shoulder in 2' of powder coming back from Whistler one weekend when they got a dump and I was on M+S tires.

^^ they don't make 10.5" snow tires either, that's why you stretch , and you want narrower winter tires rather than wide.

Going off topic, they actually do make 295 mm wide winters, 11.5" wide. 295/30R19, downsizing from summer's 305 width, believe it or not, they actually work reasonably well.

currently on 145/80/10 all seasons. Its not like it's hard to find 10 inch tires..
You can get your basic all season Falken (1st, what I've got atm) or some nice Yokohamas (2nd)
or Hoosier racing tires (3rd) or even a reproduction of the Dunlops that were specially designed for the Mini back in '59 (200+ apiece though..)
But no winters.... | |

I worked for a big local car rental company and we had maybe ~5 vehicles equipped with snow tires out of a fleet of a couple thousand lol, but you couldn't reserve one directly. 80-90% of vehicles are leased, and as such, the company can't change the tires so you get the all seasons the vehicles shipped from the manufacturer with.
Car rental companies in the interior/up north do have mandatory snow tires though. If you rent in kelowna/kamloops there's a good chance you can get a car with snow tires, but other than that slim to none.

Is anyone noticing a drop in fuel economy with winter tires on?
I got a set last week (Cooper Weathermaster A/T) and I've gotten a consistent 50km less per tank. From 13L/100km to 14.8L/100km.
Is this normal? Or should I be looking for something else.

Yes its normal. Since the rubber is softer mileage is suppose to go down a little. Not sure on how much though

Tires are same size. I checked air pressure and they were 6psi below original
This is after 2 weeks of putting them on the rims...I'll drive around a bit more and if they still lose so much air I guess I'm going back to the tire shop.

just moved to coquitlam from edmonton alberta so normally they would have been on already,not sure what i should be expecting for snow this winter so they havent even been put on yet lol

My car says 32psi in front, 29 in back.
I put 34 and 31, respectively.

Door jam recommends 30 front/29 rear
I put in 32 front/31 rear.
When the temperature drops, the air pressure will drop to recommended. And iirc, it's better to have lower pressure when there's snow on the ground.
