I got a set last week (Cooper Weathermaster A/T) and I've gotten a consistent 50km less per tank. From 13L/100km to 14.8L/100km.

Is this normal? Or should I be looking for something else.

It may not necessarily be your tires. Colder temperatures mean that cars stay in open loop (warm up mode) longer, which causes an engine to use more fuel in order to warm up.

Not just warm up too. Colder IAT's = use more all the time gas (IAT compensation).

Threw my Michelin Xi2's on today. Gnna be a bitch in Ottawa this year.

Presto 12-03-2012 01:37 PM

Xi3 went on last week.
I had a 3 year old set of Xi2, but one of the tires had sidewall damage. I, originally, bought them at Costco, but they didn't have any Xi2's, so they replaced all 4 tires with Xi3, and I only had to pay $100 for the tread I used on the Xi2's. I love Costco, and warranties.

let me know how you like the xi3 vs the xi2..

GabAlmighty 12-03-2012 09:17 PM

kakucaekz 12-03-2012 11:27 PM

Apparently it's gonna snow on the weekend. Can't wait to see dat grey slush all over the roads.

FN-2199 12-03-2012 11:32 PM

Sold my WEDsports, so the beater rims w/winters came on. Looks like I'm somewhat in time, too! It's getting cold.

Just got the black car running again. snow tires are mounted (But dash needs to be pulled before i can use the blower for heat)

My gray car Needs new wheel studs before the new rims and tires go on and a battery installed (Loaned to broke neighbor since he was out a job a tight on money)
Still dont know if the Jeep will get new snow tires this year but it to needs the dash pulled ASAP and the core, Blower motor (doesn't blow but knocks) and the blower motor speed resistor replaced :(.

crazyazn 12-04-2012 09:31 AM

Now is a good time to slap on my winters.

Just encountered some black ice in the Collingwood area in Vancouver, mostly in the residential area.

Graeme S 12-17-2012 11:11 PM

When it comes to rubber compounds 7 degrees is when summers become ineffective.

And yes, black ice is out there. Slipped and almost fell on my ass twice this evening. Do NOT want another bruised tailbone gorram it.

inv4zn 12-17-2012 11:38 PM

Patches of black ice all over coquitlam/lougheed area. Be careful if you're driving around here, especially at night.

TypeRNammer 12-17-2012 11:47 PM

Revscene traffic and weather together every ten minutes on the one ;)

BrRsn 12-18-2012 12:54 AM

icy as hell as i was leaving the gym. Almost fell on my ass and rear end was getting squirrely accelerating even moderately.

Spoiler!
