Fall / Winter 2012/13 - when are your snow tires going on?

Well...been quite mild in the city although in the wee hours of the morning we are averaging 6 degrees. But once the afternoon hits, we are back above 15 degrees.

So for the city dwellers, and from what we can see in this unusually warm weather...when do you anticipate that you're gonna need to slap on them snow tires?

Most install them around mid to late Oct...but based on current weather pattern, I'm thinking we might be able to stretch into mid to late Nov.

Washed up the blizzaks...

^ when it snows, then we make our pilgrimage and fight like mainlanders in line at kal tire/cambodian tire :troll:

Last winter I only put about 5000km on my winter tires

I'm just waiting on the big snow dump.

Until then I'll be riding on my Continental DWS tires.

Once the weather is consistently at a high of 6 degrees, the winters pop on.
However, they may pop on earlier if needed going up to Whistler!

First week of December unless there's snow in the forecast.

Araaadi 10-04-2012 09:46 PM

Since I traded cars, I'm riding on the all seasons that came with the stock rims, too cheap to just replace them until they're worn out. Once they're bald going to grab some winters

GabAlmighty 10-04-2012 09:47 PM

Winters?

dared3vil0 10-04-2012 09:53 PM

Soon as cypress/seymour opens mine will go on.

alex.w *// 10-04-2012 09:54 PM

its still 18 degrees in the afternoon!

snails 10-04-2012 09:55 PM

when the weather turns to shit and i dont wanna clean the summer rims!

westopher 10-04-2012 10:41 PM

When the mountains start sending out opening dates I'll decide. A week before whistlers opening day is usually my plan.

XplicitLuder 10-04-2012 10:43 PM

yup was gonna buy some winter ones roughly when i see it starts to fall into the 5-8 degrees on a consistant basis. Til then i hope i survive

mb_ 10-04-2012 10:55 PM

My tires are going, can't afford winters + summers so I'll have to make do with all seasons :okay:

knight604 10-04-2012 10:57 PM

Fuck i should have bought summers instead of all seasons WHATS WRONG WITH ME.

First snow fall , winters are coming on.

jing 10-04-2012 10:59 PM

Will make the switch back to the winter beater sometime this month as I usually do.

smoothie. 10-04-2012 11:47 PM

i used to put winters on around the end of october.

now that I am not running summer / winters, but all season / winters, I figure it'll buy me another week or two.

Prolowtone 10-05-2012 12:15 AM

My rims dont fit my car anymore... they do fit my other car so i Might need to drive my collector car until i get the truck i want. Just need to keep saving till then

jtrinh 10-05-2012 12:23 AM

Once temps. are consistently bellow 7. Wondering if I should spray bomb my rav4 winter steelies. :lol The Xi2's have served me well last winter/cold season.

!Aznboi128 10-05-2012 12:30 AM

Got a set of DWS and all set

Calbeee 10-05-2012 02:04 AM

i just sold my set of summers... was planning to just run on stocks till feb and order my next set...

but now that i see what you guys wrote... im super tempted to just order my set now and run it till snow season lol

i would be complaining for the next few months if i was riding on the stockies

KO7 10-05-2012 05:13 AM

Not planning to do much boarding this year, wish I had gotten the Continental DWS instead of Nitto Motivo. I would've sold my set of spare rims, but now I'll switch to winters mid-November.

LuHua 10-05-2012 05:21 AM

Thinking maybe late Nov; really need to make a run down to Discount Tire though, my SottoZeros are down to 30-40% tread.

CorneringArtist 10-05-2012 06:57 AM

Just picked up a set of Gislaved winter tires through work. They're a subsidiary of Continental, and I hear the ones I bought are a good tire. I'll be doing mine Tuesday even if the weather is still a bit warm, if I don't do them now, work might get too insane for me to mount my own tires.

EvoFire 10-05-2012 10:44 AM

Picked up my Hankook winters last week. The mornings are a little cold for my liking to run on summers, but my Bridgestones aren't slipping yet so I'll hold it off. Probably when the mountains open I'll throw them on.

My snow wheels look better than my stock ones so I'm a little eager.
