i was ambushed

the other day i got in my car and was attacked by those daddy long leg flying wasp thing. i swear it was not there when i got out of my car the day before.

can bugs and stuff crawl through the ventilation of the car?

pingu81 10-11-2012 12:08 PM

That's very unfortunate. I hope you are ok. Yes, since air can get in, bugs can also get in.

too_slow 10-11-2012 12:11 PM

I'm terrified that something similar will happen to me in Australia, except it'll be those spiders with a body the size of a giant gerbil.. I might just have to set my car on fire if I see one..

AW607 10-11-2012 12:20 PM

At first I thought you got jumped haha

My old car always used to have spider webs here and there, and they'd appear even the day after I wash it. I try to find the spider but I always came up with nothing. One day I was driving down the 91 and all of a sudden a spider the size of a quarter dangles in front of me :fuckthatshit: was fucking terrified. Hate spiders man

once i was at the intersection of #5 and Westminster highway. my window was half down and one of those Lonnie sized beetles comes flying in, hitting my face and ricocheting off my windshield and into my crotch. i thought it was dead until i saw it crawling... i was now panicking and jumping around my seat trynna make this beetle thing go away. Now the beetle was crawling on my seat wile i was hovering over it trying not to touch it. i took my northface and crammed it under me creating a barier between me an the beetle and drove all the way home

i get home, jump outta my 240 and pull out my northface and THE DAMN BEETLE WAS STILL ALIVE! but it flyed out of my car soon after

To answer the original question, most newer cars (i.e. my Subaru) have separate cabin air filters, so nothing big should come through the vents.

Of course, anything can fly through the windows...(bird crap for me!)

snails 10-11-2012 01:26 PM

i was expecting blood and fighting and somehow for you to Chuck Norris those who ambushed you... but no... a bug :okay:

Thank you. I will buy a Subaru when I'm in Aus for that feature alone!

Bugs can easily get in through the vents unless your car has a pollen filter, and even then they can always squeeze through the little gromets that plugs holes to the outside of the car.

BTW I had a cat get in my car once without me knowing

beproud 10-11-2012 05:35 PM

I'm pretty sure it can eh lol. I would hate to be in that situation eh haha

I left my civic in my garage on jackstands for about a week with the windows open, and when I sat in the driver seat after I hit like 3 spider webs on the way in... Closed all the windows and left the car in the same spot in the garage. A month later I finally have it running again and go inside the car for the first time in that month and there were double the amount of spider webs everywhere (from the windshield to the driver seat, all around the rear seats.....). Got the car out of there and start cleaning up the left over parts that I left in the side of the garage and I swear over a dozen baby spiders just flew all over the place. One time I was driving my Z (I park it in the spot next to the civic in the same garage) and a spider just casually lowers itself down from my rear view mirror down onto leg.... My garage is dead to me now

Yodamaster 10-11-2012 08:53 PM

Spiders like to make webs across the door frame at my shop, free kung fu lessons in the morning.

:fullofwin:

:okay:

mr_chin 10-11-2012 09:17 PM

I have a 2011 accord, i'm pretty sure there is pollen filter. I park under a tree on a daily basis so i'm alway afraid there'll but bugs inside my car waiting for me.

Hopefully my car is not as easy to invade as I think.

nns 10-11-2012 09:30 PM

OP sounds like he's having nightmares and shit over this.

I have the exact same problem, and tried the exact same thing...
every morning it would have built parts of a new cobweb going from my passenger side's mirror to the door on my car. But I have yet to see the spider...:considered:
