But really, I don't use any of the integrated metro apps. I realized on the first day that most of them are stripped down versions of the apps you can just install on your own separately. But since win8 doesn't actually force you to use those apps, just uninstall them all.
I understand what you're trying to say, and I would be pissed off too if I was actually forced to only be able to use the metro apps. But good thing I have other options.

It's retarded how IE in Metro mode doesn't have all the functionality & plugins that the desktop version of IE does.
I do like how quick it boots up though.

Does anyone know how to get Start8 to start up automatically after I boot up the computer?
Everytime I restart, it dissappears...

| Is there a way to make the taskbar quick launch like WinXP?
I don't like how when I run the application, the icon becomes expanded (then losing the icon).
I'm not sure if Vista did this, but it was doing this in Win7 as well already.
edit: nvm, solved this by making a QuickLaunch folder with shortcuts and setting it as a taskbar toolbar.

I'm still flipping between my two HDD's trying to decide what to go with, 7 or 8. 8 booted faster but seemed to jam up a fair bit, and having to go third aprty to get rid of Metro seems a bit silly. Is there a way to change Metro into just a strip down the left side of the screen beside the regular desktop(kinda like having the Start menu open all the time) instead of it being full screen? Useful for a tablet since the screen is so small. But very dumb on a desktop.
Due to all the stupid "admin permission" pop ups, I disabled my UAC settings to "0" in the reg key.
Once I did that, every metro app no longer worked and requested that I turn on the UAC settings again before they function.
That's pretty stupid. I just removed all the metro apps now. lol

One thing these Metro apps do is show us how comparatively useless tablets are. And these are probably some of the better examples of tablet apps. Posted via RS Mobile |

And I still get the stupid "admin permission" pop ups half of the time whenever I try to manipulate folders.

Useful for a tablet since the screen is so small. But very dumb on a desktop. | That's what I figured, which makes it a bit odd that the PC execution is the same. Considering most people are getting larger PC screens, things like the taskbar grouping and fullscreen Metro seem so odd on a PC. Quote:

Just wanted to ask a question to dual/tri screen users. How does the OS handle fullscreen apps on multiple monitors? I'm on a mac right now, and will be jumping ship, but fullscreen apps on OSX is one of the most ill conceived concepts set on an OS. If you fullscreen mode any app, it will fucking blank out the rest of you screens....
I'm so over Mac...Used to be I was one of a few people with a macbook in any given lecture hall...Now...I don't feel so special...haha

I've tried going to settings and disabling password upon wake but it doesn't disable it upon Reboot or First Boot

I was on XP, and upgraded to Win 8. Both OS's do this. I thought this was normal... or it kind of defeats the purpose of having multiple screens...
I like to run my games and have MSN on the other monitor so I can see when/if someone msgs me.

Win 8 Pro x64 vs Win 7 Ultimate x64 both fresh installl...Win8 boosts so much faster
I get the windows starting logo and it lasts less than 2 seconds...I can cold boot in less than 15 seconds it's not much slower than waking up from sleep Win 7 on mechanicl drive...Sandisk Extreme 240GB on latest FW
Now I just need to figure out how to disable Metro UI...the fix on Youtube no longer works...at least for build 9200
and is there a quicker way to access Shut Down? Pointing to edge of screen> settings> power seems very tedious. Probably gonna bind into a kb macro. Quote:

I guess you just resize if you are a multitasker. For my everyday tasks I just use a single monitor in Duplicate Mode ( so left and right screen goes into standby)...when I wanna game in Surround I just toggle Windows Key + P to go PC Screen Only and 3 monitors are enabled.

i know not everyone is too fond of win8/8.1 but ive been using it since release without much of a problem except for 1 that is kind of annoying.
the computer started acting this way some time ago n its just a hassel. out of no where, the metro UI would crash/"go missing" weather id be using the computer or leave it unattended and come back with the metro ui missing.
the wallpaper would disappear leaving a black background, right clicking anything on the desktop would not work and just shows the outline of the right click menu in blk, with nothing to click on, if i move my mouse to the top right corner it bring up the 5 icons but clicking them does nothing, and if i move my mouse to the bottom left to click on start, it'll try to bring up the metro ui but all the icons go missing
its as if back in the days on winxp/vista/7 where "explorer.exe" crashes, but in this case, the metro ui. anyone have any idea on what i should be looking into short of a fresh windows install?
