Other tablets main use is consumption.
Windows 8 tablets will be a lot more about productivity. Windows RT comes with Office.
I'm still on the fence about getting the Windows Surface RT. Currently, I don't have a laptop of any sort so would you guys recommend to wait for the Pro version to come out/other OEM non-RT tablets? What I like about the Windows Surface is that it comes with Windows Office, which will not be included in the Pro version (for now). I'm a student so I won't be doing anything intensive. Main activities would be typical school things, browsing, checking stocks, etc.
I can't decide which one would be a better investment. Gah decisions

I am not sure if I will ever get a tablet again. I have the ipad2 for a week or so didn't like it so refund.
Got the ipad3 in March this year just sold it 2 days again. Though I would use it to see if I really like it but is just not for me. The functions is too limited on a tablet and also the screen isn't big enough. It might work for some people but not for me. I rather use a laptop.

Microsoft Surface combines the best of a laptop with the best of a tablet. It does a lot more than an I pad.

^^ I would actually wait till it comes out and try it out first before making any comments. Sure there are reviews out there but still very different when using it. Unless I can hook it to a bigger monitior I am not quite sold on it yet. Coz with a laptop I can still some some games on it..... not sure how well games will run on it.
There is still something a desktop/laptop can do a lot better than a tablet can unit that happens I don't think I will try a tablet.

Microsoft Surface RT has a Micro HDMI out and USB.

I think it's the exact opposite. It's a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.
As a tablet it's inferior to the iPad 3. As a laptop it's inferior to countless options out there. I don't know how taking two sub-par products and combining them gives you a superior product.
I've gone over Microsoft's developer site for RT and as I've said before, it's not easy to take an existing program and port it over to RT. New software designed for Metro can be compiled for both RT and x86 Windows, but that doesn't do anything to make it easy to get existing software working. People are going to be very confused and upset when they realize RT will not run any of your current Windows software, despite being branded as "Windows".
Then again, it's not full Office and is missing a few features. One deal breaker for me (and work) is the lack of macros. So many corporate documents we use have macros which means Office RT is completely useless for us.
Try Googling for Windows RT Apps and see what you come up with. I did and the lack of software available (or listed anywhere) for a tablet that's due out in a few days is scary. Unless everyone is under some non-disclosure agreement and can't announce until the 26th. But I doubt that - I think there's going to be a dearth of software for RT at launch.
A piece of hardware, no matter how good it is on paper, is useless without software.

Windows RT comes with Office home and student edition If you want to use Macros in office get the Surface pro it runs the full version of office. for me it's app quality over quantity, home many farts apps does the IOS have?
Windows phone 7 does have over 50k in apps if you care about that type of stat.
Windows Surface pro will have more apps than IOS and android combined on launch day.
Tablet using AMD CPU's will also be able to run Android apps.

Just installed Win8 Pro on my zenbook prime. It's pretty confusing lol. I'll say one thing. It's amazingly snappy and boots up faster than my win7 clean install. Using the UEFI mode with GPT partition.

Keep playing around with it and you'll get used to it. It's more convenient than Win7 once you get the hang of it. Plus, their maps is sick - it does a better job than Google Maps (you'll notice Nokia Maps being labelled somewhere along with Bing Maps - I'm assuming that means they're using the NAVTEQ database?)

Pro will have apps simply because it can run legacy code. How many of those umpteen million apps do you think are going to be optimized for touch based devices? Almost none. So why buy a touch based tablet to run a bunch of Windows software that isn't touch enabled? You might as well buy a laptop.
We'll find out in a few days, but I predict very few RT Apps and even fewer touch-enabled Apps. It's going to look pretty stupid to have Apps running on your tablet that still have File - Open and the usual familiar Windows menus.

depends on your location but yeah Nokia > Google or that is Navteq>Google
its used in like 90% of car navigation systems and offers more countries/services etc etc
however google does excel over navteq in certain areas/countries (like the US and especially in campus mapping) etc
check out one of my recent nokia threads there's a maps comparison
here quoted it
Spoiler!

couldnt wait ordered the sony duo from their website
it costs the same as the one from sonystyle.com except the one in the states gives a 256gb ssd sonystyle.ca gives a 128gb and they want $300 to upgrade to the 256gb
At the moment, I can't tell if one of those new ASUS ultrabooks is a better investment than the Windows 8 Surface Pro. What are your guys' opinions on this? According to Engadget (which I feel has some bias towards Apple) said good things about the Surface, especially how the touch cover is responsive in regards to accurate typing. With that being said, maybe a W8 pro tablet is justified as a purchase rather than an ultrabook.
