Do you guys know where to find the other keys if I bought Win 8 online? I've seen them before but right now I can only find the one in the confirmation email they sent me that I've already used.

dl-ed win8 64bit, burnt iso on dvd.
changed bios to boot from dvd.
After I reboot and boot disc loads up, I get blank screen with the new light blue windows 8 logo in the center of the screen.
Then nothing happens for about 4 mins.... then the logo disappears and screen just stays black/blank. ![](http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/198745)
(stole this pic from a forum, but I don't even get the "loading circle dots")
Could it be my old motherboard (asus p5w dh deluxe) not compatible with win8?
Or I didn't create the boot disc properly? (how many ways is there to burn an iso file on a dvd??)
I'm using a E6600 right now. Could it possibly be that my cpu isn't compatible with 64 bit?

^^ E6600 is a 64bit processor, pretty much all c2d and up are 64bit.
I had that problem before but with windows 7. Had to do something with where my hard drive was plugged in. strange but it fixed it

I'm about to swap out all my internals for a major upgrade.
Have all my parts ready, but I wanted to test my boot disc first with my current (old) set up.
I wonder will it work if I try it on my new parts?? |

Install "whocrashed" it will help you figure out what is causing the crash, and you can go from there

I don't like the new Metro UI at all, it's decent for some applications, but horrible at others, especially when you're running "apps" that require intensive scrolling, and intensive menu switching (ie. the new Skype). It gives me a headache just after 5 minutes of usage. How can I use it in desktop format?

Win8 doesn't really bug me all the much. But then I hardly ever use apps or stay in the metro UI. I mostly use firefox, Netflix on firefox(For some reason Hopsopt shield doesn't work with the Netflix app it won't even connect.), video games...... But it does load faster than Win7 so I like that part.
I would use apps if only there are decent ones. It will be great if they have more apps liek CTV(not just CTV news0, CBC, BBC..... and some chinese apps for movie that doesn't install a virus (PPS, lentv.......).

I installed Windows 8 a while back, but just the other day I opened up my metro UI and holy I have like 200 different shortcuts of random stuff I installed. Long story short, metro UI should've been optional, it feels like a waste imho never use it.

I dislike how all of the applications I install end up at the START metro UI menu, so I need to keep jumping back and forth to remove those icons. Like I previously said, Some apps will benefit alot with the Metro UI, but others will be horrible at it, like Skype for instance. I have like 1000 contacts, and everytime I scroll through the lists (horizontal scrolls) or switching skype menus, it gives me a headache, cause the icons and content takes up so much real estate now that it makes me dizzy staring at it.
On the other hand, Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7.

I got a lot of crashes and restarts too, turns out it was because the OC settings that worked on Windows 7 didn't sit too well with 8. Once that was dealt with, I haven't had a single crash since.

kkeeps on crashing, freeezes, lags, even youtube | For driver issues, visit MA-CONFIG. You have to download the program so it can scan your computer for hardware and compare your drivers with the latest ones online. Saw it on LifeHacker and gave it a shot. It actually works really well.

Fucking so annoying when I have to clean up my Start Menu.
They definitely should have made that new home screen optional.

just right click on each icon and flush em out all at once, so easy and i hardly ever use the start screen i use it even less than i did the traditional start menu so it kind of is optional

Ok, completely mindblasted right now.
So a few questions... how do I sign off my built-in messenger??
I don't really like using the built-in one, cause of the lack of customization or custom emoticons and such.
(which is the only reason why I still like MSN/WLM over all the other IM programs)
Also, if I "uninstall" an app from the Metro, how do I install it back?
