^Mostly to take advantage of the Metro UI for tablet I guess.
I've been using a Win8 tablet a lot at work and I find it really useful. It's a good mix between tablet and PC.
I haven't really looked into any of the other devices but I would get one that has the stylus that's not capacitative (don't remember what it's called off the top of my head lol).
Edit: $519 pre order price in Canada with out a touch cover. $619 with comer and $719 for the 64 gig ver with cover. I wonder what the Windows Pro prices will be.

id like a tablet if its running the full Win8OS but im partial to the microsoft surface design especially with the cover/kb
supposedly Nokia will be releasing a tablet as well now (its been rumoured and denied for awhile but looks like its true) but i'd only be interested if its not RT which i doubt it will be
Globe and Mail reports that Surface 32GB will be $519 in Canada. Keyboard is $130. The 64GB Surface will be priced at $719, but it will come with the keyboard. However, the keyboard it comes will not have keys that depress. That keyboard can be bought for $140.
think i may way for the 2nd gen tablets/slates though
Yea I would wait for the 2nd gen. tablets as well. At these prices, including the increased prices for Canadians (I really don't understand why they do that) and ~$100 for the case with keyboard, I can't justify purchasing the Surface at the moment. If they priced their Windows Pro Surfaces at this price, then it would sell like hotcakes. Sadly that's not the case. Hopefully my negativity is wrong about its influence on the success of Windows 8.
With Office Preinstalled, I can now justify the price lol. Also, it doesn't look like you'll be missing much compared to the Pro version. It is already more productive for business/school with typing. Chrome + Photoshop already have apps made. Windows RT isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Acers tablet will be out Nov 9th in Canada. Starting at $500 for the 32 GB ver with an Intel Atam CPU. $150 for the keyboard dock. The Dock also has a battery doubleing the batter life to around 18 hours.
Daring Fireball asked about storage space on the new 32GB tablet. MS responded back that after WindowsRT, Office and a "bunch of Apps" users can expect to have 20GB of free space on the 32 GB Surface.
if there's a pretty much full-fledged windows OS 16gigs won't be enough anyways
even if you download custom lite version of win8 or sthing it's still gonna be pretty limited
