well....in celebration of my recent purchase of a 2017 Acura RDX Elite to replace my 2013 RDX.... what better way then to get a diecast that is 90% identical to my very own car?! pretty good detail..not quite autoart...but good enough.

Had to to some relocation of my models so they were moved outta their usual spots.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/rH...=w1645-h926-no

Why they are outta the cabinet. So I can start working on my garage diorama. First was trying to figure out where to have my hoist located.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/bQ...=w1645-h926-no

Start marking where I am gonna drill the holes for the hoist.

Started positioning back the diecast

Wow. For that price, I'd rather get the Tamiya LFA version. Cheaper and I would have a lot more fun building it, and studio 27 sells a detail upgrade set for the LFA. If you don't mind 1:24 scale.

How to build a portable spray booth for less than $100.00 Cnd

Hi Guys

Here is another tutorial I would like to post up.
I really don't have a dedicated room to paint my models. And since we all live in Vancouver, you all know that painting model cars whether it is plastic or diecast, can suck. Too cold and wet to paint in the garage during the winter, and may too dusty during the summer time. After researching what types of spray booth are available, I've decided to build my own. Before I built my booth, I was spraying and painting my models in a small washroom in my basement. I thought since this was an enclosed room with a ceiling fan, the paint fumes and dust should get sucked out easily. I was wrong....The paint fumes did get sucked out, but the room got really dusty and this made my wife pretty upset with my hobby.

As I mentioned, I did a lot of research to see what is out there. A lot of the results I found where either too expensive, too massive to build or the solution didn't fit. I finally found a few similar solutions, but I modified mine to work with two fans instead of one.

Here is the list of items I used to make my portable spray booth:
1 - clear plastic storage bin with a collapsible cover
1 - 70 CFM exhaust fan
1 - Flexible aluminum dryer tube
1 - connector joint to attach the flexible hose to exhaust fan
1 - gang box
1 - light switch
1 - plug and wire
1 - metal tape
1 - fan cover
1 - roll of furnace dust filter (custom cut filter)

Here are the Pics and I will explain what I did:

For my spray booth, I bought an extra fan cover. This one was used to attached one end of the flexible hose to channel the paint fumes to the existing ceiling exhaust fan. I used a dremel tool to remove the center plastic from the fan cover and attached the flexible tube to the cover tape using metal tape. Attaching the fan cover to the ceiling is super easy. Just two metal clips. When I am done spraying, I just simply detach the cover plate with the hose, and just reattached the existing fan cover.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...pswb4zdq4o.jpg

Next, before I connected the flexible hose to the exhaust fan, I measured and drew an out line of where the exhaust fan is going to be located on the clear storage bin. I used a dremel to cut the hole, and attached the exhaust fan to the storage bin. I then used metal tape to cover any gaps between the exhast fan and the bin. Afterwards, a connector was needed to attach the hose to the exhaust fan. As you can see both hose and exhaust fan outlet are different diameters.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...psddxjyoja.jpg

Instead of wiring the exhaust fan directly to a plug, I wired it to a light switch and attached it to a gang box, and attached it to the side of the box.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...psxnh7hd3b.jpg

Here is my portable spray booth. All in all, this took about 2 hrs to build. It may take some of you guys less time to build yours. But overall I am very happy with it. I am glad to say that there are no more or very minimal dust, and virtually no paint fumes, when I am spraying. And my wife is happy with my hobby now.

Please comment and let me know if this will help some of you out.

Thanks

Tarmac Works Spoon Racing CIVIC

Hi everyone,

Just got these cool Tarmac Works Civics. Canada Post dropped them off today at my work place!! Glad there is no strike happening.

I'm still learning to take better pics.

1/18 Spoon Racing EG Civic.

The detail is pretty good for a resin model. Finally someone had the decency to use PE (Photo Eched) for wind shield wipers and hood pins. They look alot more scale than plastic wipers and decals for hood pins. The paint finish is very good. On this model, there was no orange peel. The applied decals has a semi gloss to them. Just like real race cars with vinyl decals applied.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...pspnn7py8p.jpg

The interior is nicely finished, with roll cage and PE 5 point seat belts, along with some simulated wiring. As with most resin cars the bottom details are scarce in my opinion.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...pskpajfg3r.jpg

The stance and over all shape is accurate and good. A few collectors have mentioned that the car sits too low and the rims look a bit over sized. But in real life the cars does sit that low, and the rims and wheels look to scale. Thumper had posted an image of real car a few pages back.

Front and rear disk brakes are represented nicely with PE parts and plastic.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...psuu3s3nr1.jpg

The Model comes with a display plate and authenticity card that list the car number.

Question about Otto-mobile colour variations

Anyone purchased directly from Otto-mobile their 1/18 models expecting the advertised colour but receiving something slightly different.

I recently obtained one of their recently released 1/18 models of a BMW E34 M5 Touring model. The only advertised colour was in “Diamond Black”.

http://otto-models.com/en/ot198/345-...5-touring.html

When I received the model, the color was different. It appears to be very dark black/blue with a tinge of purple (update: I believe it's Techno Violet but M5's weren't painted this colour!). It really doesn’t matter to me what color I received, as I really wanted an E34 M5 in a touring model. Color is only secondary for me. Just wondering if Otto-mobile does this intentionally or is between various production runs and produced different colors than what is advertised. This model is marked #1685 of 2500.

This one is going to be a keeper for sure if this colour variation isn’t typical or intentional!

Here are some pics:

Update: Just noticed the stock number on my box is "OT198UV1" whereas the one on the OttoMobile website is just "OT198"

i dunno... i googled diamond black and it gave me this:

Thanks, I guess with different lighting conditions, the colour and hue will take on different characteristics.
I'm just happy they came out with an E34 M5 touring in 1/18 scale!

Pacman808 09-03-2016 06:03 PM

What do you think of the e34 wagon?
