yes. boost gear in japan. prorder only. too expensive otherwise, and i only buy IG from them, and maybe Make Up/Eidolon, but the latter are getting too pricey and i can't afford them anymore preorder or otherwise. i have preorders dating back almost half a year and they are slowly trickling in. i know others here are getting theirs cheaper from amiami, etc. but this is the only place that hasn't caused me grief when something arrives broken or defective.

^ I've once had to deal with Amiami's return policy... Or should I say return gauntlet! It actually got to the point of hilarity and I took it upon myself as a challenge to win despite overwhelming odds.

Coles notes: got a 1:43 Mark Lexus LF-A... Showed up with many areas polished through the clear coat, which is really hard to take photos of no matter how good a camera you have, so I took all the photos when they asked, they said they couldn't see it so I had to circle things on photoshop and then they said that part of the box label showing that car on the packing slip has to be in every photo I take as well to prove it came from them (?????) now it's hard enough to take photos of rub marks, imagine trying to get photos where the camera shows those marks and also is focusing on secondary printing on a box behind /beside/trying to fit into the same frame as a detail shot that you can still read it as well as see the defects???! Holy fuck. I must have spent a week just sending photos back and forth with them until finally they said I could mail it back and send them a scan of my postage receipt (cheapest option only is: surface ) and they'd send me a new one when they got it. Whole process took about 3 months.

^ ow.

i like boost gear. i get an english response within 24 hours on facebook. i know there are other places that are cheaper but good customer service goes a long way. they seem to have a good relationship with ignition model as they have had a few special editions made by IG. boost gear only failed me once. they usually check the model before shipping it out, but the one i got awhile back had a piece of hair stuck to the paint. i could have used a potato camera and you would still see it, so it wasn't hard to claim. as per their policy i had to pay for return shipping and the replacement they mailed to me arrived sooner than the defective one i returned.

One thing I will give amiami is that they credit you for the amount of your return shipping on your next order

Ottomobile 1/18 Mk4 R32

Hi everyone,

No reviews or write ups today.... Just want to share with you pics of my 1/18 R32 from Otto.

The only complaint I have about this car is they modeled it with a Auto with Sequential shift. I thought the MK4 r32 was available only with a 6 spd? The interior reminds me of my Mk4 GLI - minus the auto tranny. I really miss my GLI.

Enjoy the Pics!

Comments are welcomed.

Slightly off topic, but thought I would ask here as you guys are probably quite knowledgeable on this topic.

I am looking for Primer (spray can) for small detailed plastic models (my 3D prints).

I don't have too much knowledge on the differences between primer used for models vs say, a car. (If there are any significant differences?)

For those here who repair models / build resin kits etc, do you have a primer that you can recommend?

Thank you in advance!

Tamiya Primer or Mr.Surfer by Gunze. You can get these primers from any hobby store in Vancouver. Magic Box, Burnaby Hobbies, Imperial Hobbies, and there is one in Crystal mall on the second floor.

Stay away from automotive primers. They are usually thick and maybe too hot for plastics.

I personally like Tamiya Primer alot.

Thanks

William

Thanks!

I sorta knew automotive primer would be too thick. (didn't know about it being too hot :O)

I'll take a look into the Tamiya Primer!

I've used duplicolor sandable primer on my styrene kits, but usually things where finish isn't my main concern like the chassis/suspension components. I haven't had any issues with it being "too hot" as some people say. as for thickness, lots of very light coats is the way around that.

its way more cost effective than tamiya primer. That being said, I use tamiya primer on the bodies just cause its so fine most of the time I don't even need to do sand it before colour.

Hi Everyone,

Don't need any introductions for this car. We all know that this actually car cost about $100k Cdn, and it has a 5.2L V8 that cranks out 526 Bhp and 429lb-ft torque. It weighs 130lbs lighter than the standard GT350, which shaves 0.4 secs to 100 kmph. It's the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R. Ford only produced 37 units of this car, and #001 was sold for $1 million dollars at Barrett Jackson Auction. This powerful and one of the best Mustangs to date has been faithfully recreated to scale by GT Spirit.

I must say, GT Spirit and Ottomobile have been on a Ford run these days.. First Otto released a 1/18 2016 Ford Focus RS back in Oct 2016, then they released a 1/12 scale 67' Mustang GT500 back in Nov 2016, and then GT Spirit released a GT350R in white and blue back in Nov 2016. Soon GT will have a Mustang by Bojix Design (ugly) and the original GT40 MK1 (which will arrive in March 2017). That's a lot of Fords...

GT Spirit originally released a white version of the GT350R. 1500 to be exact. But, if you collect models from GT, chances are they will release a European or Asian only model car. And and these models are usually in a different colour and produced in a lower amount (504 pieces) compared to the "mainline" release. If you live in North America, tough luck getting one locally.

For the Shelby GT350R, GT Spirit produced 504 pieces of the GT350R in blue. This blue is the same blue Ford used for the GT350R for it's North American debut in Detroit. I was lucky to get one of the blue GT350R for a decent price.

I have a white version of the GT350R, and I was somewhat disappointed with the QC on mine. The decals, window mask and rear spoiler had some issues. I was hesitate at getting the Blue version at first, but I must say it looks better than white. Fearing the QC, I was taken by surprised when I received mine. The paint, decals, window trims, and rear spoiler had no defects. It was very close to a perfect model. Upon further inspection, I did noticed that there is a very small dimple on the hood near the wipers on mine. And my white version has it too... I wonder if it was part of the curing process for resin? But other than that issue, GT did capture the shape and panel lines of the car very good.

Over all I really do like the blue version over the white GT350R. Maybe I find white kinda boring...I only wish GT made the Red version instead of white.

Enjoy the pics. And comments are welcomed.

Happy Collecting!

William

Otto #8 Red 400R checking in. Otto made a pretty nice model with the 400R. Thanks to William for selling me one.

Picked up some Capstone LED Puck Lights and just stuck it on the top. Its pretty good that it's remote controlled and powered by 3 AAA batteries.
