I have not posted a review in a while.. Things have been very busy these days...
I hope you guys will not be disappointed with this one. It is the Brabus 900 by GT Spirit.
Let me say this first... this is one big a$$ coupe. Even in 1/18 scale. But it is super sexy....Well to quote Car and Driver "Brabus Rocket 900 Is a Batcrap-Crazy S65 AMG Coupe for the Filthy Rich". If you can't afford the real thing, GT Spirit reproduced one in 1/18th scale at a very affordable price.
For those not familiar with the Brabus 900, it is powered by a V12 turbo charged engine that spits out 887 horsepower and produces a crazy 1106 lb-ft of torque at 4200 rpm. 0-60 mph in 3.7 secs and top speed of 217 mph.
Actual production car
Here is a YouTube video of the Brabus 900. It sounds very mean...
When I opened the box to check for defects, one thing that really caught my eye is the clear transparent Sunroof. Typically for past GT models, they usually tint the sunroof. But not in this case. GT did not, and I am so happy they didn't do it.
Looking through the sunroof, the interior is highly visible. I really dig it. The clear sunroof really makes an impact on the model.
You can see GT paid more attention to details for interior.
Moving onto the other details on the model that I really liked were the disk brakes. GT did a excellent job replicating the ceramic disk brakes and the big gold Brabus calipers.
Other features GT did not miss were the front and rear spoilers, rear diffuser and carbon trims for the air outlets in the rear bumper.
One thing I am really disappointed with GT is why do they skimp out on the details for the B Pillar? They make a nice model, but the cheap out on the B Pillar detail. Printing the B Pillar on clear acetate plastic cheapens the look of the model.
Overall I really like this model. The paint finish is done very good. Panel lines are nicely reproduced (I wish it GT can make a deeper panel lines)
GT has produced another model subject that very few model manufactures will produce. I assume that may be licensing issues. GT only produced 1250 of the 900, and they are all sold out. If you have the chance to get one, I totally recommend it. You won't be disappointed.
I hope you guys enjoy the pics. Comments are welcomed.
I would like to share with you probably one of the best examples of S2K in 1/18 scale. This model is made by OneModel. I have a few colour samples. Yellow is my favorite so far.
In my opinion, I think OneModel pretty much nailed it with the overall shape and stance and package of the S2K.
I really liked the fact that they provided a separate piece the represents the rood folded down, so you can display the model with the roof closed or retracted. The removeable roof pieces are held in place by magnets.
Roof retracted
Another detail i really liked are the disk brakes. They look used. Really cool.
I do not own the AutoArt's S2K, so I can't really compare. But, I may say that looking at pics of the AA version online, I think OneModels version is better. I'm pretty sure you guys have the AA S2K version, what do you guys think?
I accidentally broke part of the antenna during the shoot. that is why the rear antenna looks short.
The interior is S2k...better than the DC2 interior...
Royal Navy Blue.
Berlina Black
Grand Prix White
Other colours available, New Formula Red, Suzuka Blue, Moon Rock Silver, and Rio Yellow.
How many of you are familiar with the brand LS Collectibles? They are the sister brand of Top Marques. Similar to what Ottomobile is to GT Spirit. LS Collectibles produces less hi-end model cars.
Recently they just released the Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 in 1/18th scale. Is it a disappointing model? Well I'll let the pictures do the talking and you guys decide.
For those who are not familiar with the 3000 GT VR4, it was produced by Mitsubishi from 1990-2000. In Japan it was know as the GTO, and in North America, it was the 3000 GT VR4. Since Mitsubishi was not sold in Canada at that time, it was sold as the Dodge Stealth R/T. The 3000 GT looked way better than the Stealth.
Sexy Mitsubishi
Fugly Dodge Stealth
The 3000 GT VR4 was powered by a Twin Turbo DOHC V6, which produced 296 BHP@ 6000 RPM and 306 lbs of torque @ 2500 RPM. It was 4WD, and it had 4WS along with an active Aero front and rear spoiler. The ride height varied a speeds. This was a lot of tech and performance for a 90's car.
Here is old Top Gear review of the 3000 GT VR4 featuring a very young Jeremy Clarkson.
I was very excited to receive this model from LS, because this is the only 1/18 scale of the VR4. To my surprise, no other manufactures produces it in 1/18. Also, this the first LS model in my collection. The 3000 GT VR4 from LS is available in red and black. For me red has always represented the VR4.
The model is packed in a foam clam shell, and is wrapped with tissue paper in a plastic bag for protection during shipping.
After unwrapping and inspecting the car for any signs of damage, one of the first thing I noticed was that the model had some good weight to it. It felt solid - like a metal diecast car.
Since this is sealed resign model, the front wheels are not poseable. I really wish resin manufacturers would make a resin model with poseable front wheels. With the manufacturing technology that we have today, this process should not be too difficult. Anyhow that is my rant...
The panel lines, smooth paint finish and details of this model is decent. I would say that models produced by LS is comparable to models produced by Ottomobile (I also bought the 300 ZX as well). One thing I did noticed was the fuel cover. LS used a decal to out line the fuel cover. Did they forget to detail this area? And the B-Pillar is missing the Twin Turbo decal.
As for overall shape, it is proportionally correct. But I think the rear glass is a bit rounded.
Detail on the underside of the model is sparse.
The interior is black, and it is accurate. But I think LS could of spruced up the interior a bit more ie: add somemore paint to the center dash, use different shades of gray to make it less dull, and add some seat belts.
LS sells this model for €125.00 ($180.00 Cnd) on their web store, plus shipping to Canada and customs/ duties will push the overall cost north of $200.00 CND. Is it worth the price? In my opinion, no one makes a 3000 GT VR4 in 1/18 scale. And like all collectible car models this is limited production - so it should hold value. If you are a fan of 90's JDM cars, this is a must have in your collection. It will not look out of place next to a 300ZX, RX-7(FD), NSX (NA1), Skyline R32 GTR, and Supra Mk4.

I hope you guys enjoy the pics. Comments are welcomed.
Too bad it isn't about flipping cars to lose money, I'm really good at that.

It's the Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo by LS Collectibles. If you are looking for a 1/18 300ZX or Fairlady, the only options you have are Kyosho and LS Collectibles (Recently released). The Kyosho version is diecast metal with open hood, doors and trunk. It is long discontinued, but can be easily found on eBay. Mixed reviews and possible paint rash problems on the Kyosho version.
Kyosho Version
This 300ZX TT, was just recently released by LS Collectibles. It is a sealed resin model. The quality on this Fairlady is consistent with the 3000 GT VR4 that was just reviewed. When I first saw the prototypes that were released by LS Collectables via faceBook, it caught my interest. It looked pretty decent.
I thought did LS create the prototype by copying and scaling up Tamiya's 1/24 300ZX model??? Anyhow, I think LS did a great job with the ZX. The overall shape and ride height looks correct.
I really liked the the fact that LS did not tint the T-Top and left it clear. This really allows the interior to be more visible. Speaking of the interior, I think LS could of added a little bit more detail by using different shades of grey along with black. The overall interior detail is correct, just wish LS made the interior more lively. Especially with a clear T-Top.
Panel lines and paint finish is decent. No bubbles, over spray or dust contaminate.
And the famous 300Zx headlights, and you can see LS highlighted the panel lines.
More pics...
So..Is it worth adding to your collection, for me I've always liked the 300ZX. And I know it will look good with with my 3000 GT, NSX, RX 7 and Supra. It illustrates a time when these JDM cars had their own looks and characteristics.
On a side note, it was this car that inspired me to pursue a career in Industrial Design, when a car designer from Nissan Design International wrote back to me when I was in high school. In his letter he explained what I needed to do to in order to pursue a career in automotive design. In the letter he included this poster by renowned Automotive artist David Kimble.
