AutoArt's 1:18 Initial D "Project D" Ver. AE86 is back up for pre-order on the site I frequent. Couldn't resist, been waiting for this to get in stock for quite some time.

I'm a big noob for diecast cars.. but if I want to pick up a few models, what size would be best?

or put another way, what are the pros/cons of the going with the different sizes (scales)?

twitchyzero 05-23-2013 12:49 PM

larger ones obvs take up shelf-space but if it's just a few models it's fine...unless you see it become an obsession
1:18/1:24 are more common to find in Canada/US

Between those two, any reason to choose one over the other?

I got it from Ikea and had custom glass cut at Lang's Glass in Richmond.
I had to order extra pegs for the shelves from ikea mixed with pegs from homedepot to cram that many shelves in.

I believe the total cost was about $350 with the led lights pictured

krazynuck 05-23-2013 07:46 PM

^and I think we both can agree it is better just to pay the money to get the glass cut...right E-40six

I started 1/43 as 1/18 is getting too expensive. I find the selection much better for 1/43 as there are more cars that like to collect.

Definitely! also a lot safer to be not messing around with glass cutting if you have no idea what you're doing

I'd get the Supra for nostalgia reasons. Doesn't look very good though.

finally got the R32 GTR Nismo that I always wanted... pretty hard to get one nowadays.

Acura604 06-05-2013 02:16 PM

purchased the last remaining 3G TL off ebay... these are pretty much all gone and will never be found again unless there is someone who decides to sell theirs. I re-contacted the original seller that sold me a TL model back in 2007 and asked to check for any remaining stock...they found one and one only.

I have 2 now.. one silver and the new one is dark gray (enroute).

cost? $192cdn yikes lol..but to me, price is never an issue as long as you appreciate what you've purchased. those who know me know that i'm a huge fan of this particular vehicle.

I have a Lister Storm GT coming in from Spain. First model I've bought in maybe 10 years, and it's the livery below. Can't fully explain it, but I find the Storm is an awesome, if obscure supercar.
