what is the the HKG=CDN exchange rate like these days? i want to preorder something from HK but i am not sure if the current exchange rate is any good :confused:

HKD exchange rate is locked with US at around 7.8(HKD):1(US), not a good idea to shop oversea these day when the USD is so strong and CAD doing poor.

just juggling the risk of whether to get in on a pre-order now, and run the risk of it being cheaper upon release because of the exchange rate... or i wait and they sell out the entire run and i lose :(

i got an email newsletter today from wilkinsons automobilia... they are going to move in with overseas auto.

wow today is full of win for me... autoart replied back to my email inquiry on how to replace my missing antenna on the black r35 gtr i posted about several weeks back... this is the email they sent back:

So, I had ordered the 1:18 scale of the Jade Metallic Mine's R34 GT-R from Ignition and it showed up today... I will take some pictures when it's nice out as the indoor lighting in my condo sucks horribly.

I think the packaging is hilarious, it comes in a cardboard coloured box with Ignition logos all over it... and at the top there are fold out handles to make it like a carrying case lunch box!! LOL!

The model looks great, the base plate looks great it's resin so it's not as fun as the AutoArt models in that regard... but the weird thing is there's no clear plastic cover! It's like the AA regular models (not Signature) such as the RX7 or their own Jade Metallic R34 where the model is on a plate in a 4-post canopy with the box around that........ except in this case there is no clear plastic, the entire assembly is just sitting inside a plastic dust cover style sleeve. I feel like that's a bit of a letdown, if you take it out of the dust cover sleeve, it's just open to the air like that... looks a bit odd to me and I expected to get a case at this price level, but then again you're paying the same $$$ as a lower popularity AA Signature series model (or way more in the case of a Pagani Zonda etc.) and they don't come with anything whatsoever for displaying either.
